Photographer’s Note

The first one of a series of 3 images of Sori, a small beautiful Ligurian city just 3 miles east of Genova on the Riviera di Levante and located few miles before Recco and Camogli.
All 3 images were took in a bad raining morning, with dark grey sky and cold wind.

We were at home of our friends of Milan; his family was a noble one of Genova, originary of Paris, and as other rich and famous families of that city, have a big old villa (XVIII° Century) in the suburb for the week ends, in front of the sea. The promontory on the background is the Portofino one, that is located just on the other side.
The part of sea under the promontory is know as "The General".

The small street that run on the left corner is the Strada Statale Aurelia n° 1, one of the first Roman street, that runs from Roma to the French border, running along the Mediterranean cost and Genova.
The entire Via Aurelia is long more than 962 kms and runs from Roma to Arles, running out of Italia via Nice, Toulone and Marseille.

It was built during the I° Century b.C.
