Photographer’s Note
The first one of a series of 3 images of Sori, a small beautiful Ligurian city just 3 miles east of Genova on the Riviera di Levante and located few miles before Recco and Camogli.
All 3 images were took in a bad raining morning, with dark grey sky and cold wind.
We were at home of our friends of Milan; his family was a noble one of Genova, originary of Paris, and as other rich and famous families of that city, have a big old villa (XVIII° Century) in the suburb for the week ends, in front of the sea. The promontory on the background is the Portofino one, that is located just on the other side.
The part of sea under the promontory is know as "The General".
The small street that run on the left corner is the Strada Statale Aurelia n° 1, one of the first Roman street, that runs from Roma to the French border, running along the Mediterranean cost and Genova.
The entire Via Aurelia is long more than 962 kms and runs from Roma to Arles, running out of Italia via Nice, Toulone and Marseille.
It was built during the I° Century b.C.

This is a simple image yet it feels, to me, very soulful. Makes me think that people are going to get home, make a nice dinner and watch the storm with a good bottle of wine. Cheers.

It's so dark so rainy ! Is it possible in your country ? Otherwise it's a nice town you show by this shot.
Cheers

Hi Paolo.
The dark atmosphere, reflecting very well how the conditions were, is lovely.
Nice POV with the mountain and the clouds as a background!

Hi Paolo,
We are used to see sunny beaches with full colour from Italy, but this time a picture from a time that people prepare for the wintertime. I like the dark toning, they really tell the mood and weather, and those dark clouds on top and around the mountain really enhanching this story...great.

I cielo minaccioso circonda le alture in lontananza ed il contrasto con le case color pastello in primo piano colpisce l'occhio.
Bello scatto.
Bravo.

Ciao Paolo. The weather might have been miserable but it has given you the opportunity to capture some great shades of blue. The elongated clouds add a lot to the atmosphere. Nice PoV.I like the way the houses occupy the triangle in the corner. Regards. Klaudio.

Ciao Paolo,
It looks a bit less sunny than Sardegna ;-)
The view must be very nice from this point as we can guess even with this weather, the dark dominant sets a mood, I tried a WS to help houses stand out better.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Paolo,
What a nice contrast with the white cloud against the imminent sky and the dark silhouette of the mountain, also the part of city in corner care for a attractive picture. Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice tuesday,
John.

Very good, Paolo. A bit on the dark side but still so beautiful, the composition compensates for the lack of light. Nice to have this perfect triangle of the village filling the corner, while the rest of the frame is devoted to the more faraway scenery with the mountain and clouds. Fantastic sky, but I wonder whether the more panoramic crop would work better. See WS.
Cheers

Hi Paolo,
Despite the weather conditions the resulting scene is not unduly dark, as the pastel hues of the buildings are still scene in sharp relief. I like the POV here, with the town angling down from left to right in the frame, with the blue water all about. The cloud hanging over the far mountain and cluster of buildings there forms an entirely separate scene. Very good depth here. A well taken shot, Paolo. This promises to be an interesting mini series.

You did extremely well here at managing such a low light and getting such a great result. The toned down colours of the buildings are excellent and the overall atmosphere conveyed by the picture is great. Congratulations.

Nice city landscape, I think the POV could be a bit down, however nice color and great capture.
