This is my last attempt at improving this photo. I tried to sharpen and cropped the top quite a bit because of the screwy horizon. I also adjusted color and lighting, and added a different frame, with the result that the pathway is just barely visible, in the upper right of the photo. I like the colors but am still not satisfied with it completely. The darker frame does focus the eye on the photo, however, and hopefully cuts down on distractions. The printed copy is so much better than these, for some reason...
Taken along "Lover's Lane," which begins at the small village of Riomaggiore. Traditional industries such as fishing and wine-making still go on here. The villages are only accessible by boat and now by train. There are stations in the larger villages and a foot path along the cliffs that affords some stunning views of the Mediterranean to the smaller ones. The walk from the southernmost town, Riomaggiore, to Manarola takes about 30 minutes by foot, and the trail, which is part of a national park is in very good condition. It gets fairly rough as you travel north, however...

I like the rock formation with the nice blue water which compliments the warm rock tones. Sharpness and lighting looks good and the black border compliments the image well. This brings back memories of my trip to Italia.
