Photographer’s Note
Back in Camogli with a view from the small concrete pier close to Santa Maria Church, looking East to the wonderful and colorful old waterfront, a real wall of houses with 8 or 9 floors built betwen the end of XIX Century and the 20's of the XX Century.
The waterfront of Camogli was opened in the 1913, when the old waterfront built from the X Century with wood and stone houses was destroyed to opened the pedestrian street, to built the new houses and to have a larger beach.
Camogli have a strange link with the tiny island of Tristan da Cuna, a group of remote islands in the south Atlantic Ocean, 2816 km (1750 miles) from South Africa and 3360 km (2088 miles) from South America.
It is a dependency of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena, 2173 km (1350 miles) to the north and have 280 inhabitants.
In the 1892 two castaways of the ship Italia, of the Camogli Fleet, Andrea Repetto e Gaetano Lavarello, originary of Camogli, arrived on the beach of Tristan da Cunha.
They were saved and both decided to spent there the rest of their life.
Still today, more than 110 years afer two of the surnames of the Tristan inhabitants are Repetto and Lavarello!
The Hospital in Tristan da Cunha was built with money coming from Liguria and it was named "Camogli Hospital".

Ciao Paolo
Marvellous reflections, with rich saturated colour & impeccable sharpness. The wide angled panoramic format suits perfectly. Bellisimo!

Hello Paolo,
The curve of the beach leads us nice to the other side of the picture.
Pink colours as reflection care for a very attractive daily life picture.
The people on the beach enjoy of the first spring sun of 2008.
Thanks for sharing.
Best regards,
John.

Molto ben organizzata.
