[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The fortress was designed by the architect Francesco Giorgio di martini from Siena who also followed the progress of the works. The building was commissioned by Giovanni della Rovere, Lord of Mondavio and commander of the Feltria brigade. The fortress was built over an earlier Malatesta's fortress built between 1300 and 1350. The fortress is formed by four basic elements (in the original project there were five): two Revellines with draw-bridges to cross the rampart.
The tower with the arched gate as a first defence a guard-house with a steep slope to enter into the Mastio (the highest tower) and a draw-bridge.
The five-floor Mastio, in the shape of an irregular octagon, has helicoidal and steep walls, sloping corbels, gun-embrasures and loopholes on every stage and at each corner, merlons with embrasures where would stand the garrison.
The fortress as a whole represents a valuable example of a revolution in the art of fortification, the only masterpiece of the Siena architect which reached the present days in its full integrity. After the discovery of the gun powder the fortress had to resist passively to any assault from the artillery: bombards, colubrines, guns, like the weapons you can admire today in the armoury of the fortress.

La Rocca di Mondavio (PU) è una fortificazione rinascimentale che rappresenta una delle più importanti ed interessanti testimonianze dell'attività progettuale in campo militare di Francesco di Giorgio Martini di Siena. Venne costruita per commissione di Giovanni della Rovere, insieme ad altre rocche del ducato.
La rocca di Mondavio è giunta fino ai nostri giorni in ottimo stato di conservazione (sebbene più volte ristrutturata), non avendo mai subito attacchi o assedi. La maestosa fortezza si presenta come una vera e propria macchina da guerra, in cui ogni forma e struttura è stata studiata per resistere agli attacchi sferrati con le armi dell'epoca: sia con le armi a getto (catapulte, trabucchi) sia con le armi da fuoco, che cominciavano a diffondersi in quegli anni. La presenza del mastio domina l'intera struttura sia per le sue dimensioni che per la particolare forma.

bellissima notturna, forse nella composizione avrei tagliato il cielo e dato più importanza al pavimento, mi sembra infatti un po' squilibrata con tutto quel nero poco interessante. Al di là di ciò i colori sono perfetti e nelle notturne non è sempre facile riprenderli così bene. Complimenti.

Accidenti che definizione per una foto in notturna!
Composizione molto bella e interessante, con buon bilanciamento dell'esposizione e un ottimo pov di ripresa.
mi piace anche il contrasto col nero del cielo. Non solo è un'immagine che colpisce subito per la sua bellezza ma presenta molti spunti di approfondimento con tanti dettagli interessanti (le macchine da guerra per esempio).

Sembra anche un po la fortezza del film il "deserto dei Tartari" con Gasmann, quantomeno per il senso di vuoto che da

Interesting night shot - with the shadows cast by the spotlights on these war machines, somehow the whole shot takes on the appearane of a minature - a model. Curious.
