Acquaviva Picena
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Acquaviva is an Italian town of 3,860 inhabitants in the province of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche.
Acquaviva is located on a hill that dominates the landscape of the Tronto valley, a few kilometers away from the Adriatic Sea and San Benedetto del Tronto. The elevation mid-hills of the town (359 m above sea level) you can see, in the days of good weather, as well as the highest peak of the Sibillini (Mount Carrier), even the most distant mountains of Abruzzo (Gran Sasso, Majella).
The site Acquaviva was inhabited since prehistoric times, which has yielded numerous artifacts especially vintage Piceno, but also in Roman times. When the Piceni, that there were certainly settled in the sixth century BC, remained subdued in Rome, the territory acquavivano retained vitality thanks to the proximity of the city of Castrum Truentinum.
But it was the barbarian invasions that the hill saw the birth of a real urban settlement: the arrival of the Lombards and Saracens led in fact to repair the coastal populations of the surrounding hills. The village was originally a possession of Farfa (947), then it became a fief of the Acquaviva family (hence the name) in the thirteenth century, built a fortress.
In 1341, Acquaviva transited under the control of the city of Fermo, which constituted an important garrison in enemy territory, preserving the coastal possessions (San Benedetto in Albula) from the mire of Ascoli. In the fifteenth century the castle underwent a significant population increase led to a doubling of the town, with the construction of the eastern sector, called Terra Nova Terra Vecchia as opposed to that sort near the fortress, was the original center of the country. This also made it necessary to build a second stronghold facing east.
Included in the papal legation Fermo, Acquaviva was annexed to the Kingdom of Italy by plebiscite in 1860. In 1799, during the Napoleonic campaign of Italy, the anti-French forces led by the brigand Sciabolone had put on fire destroying the local archives and with it the source of direct observation of the local history, whose reconstruction is based primarily of external evidence.

Ciao Silvio,
Nice use of arches to frame the landscape and lead the eye. The rich green of the countryside is contrasted nicely against the natural colours of the brickwork and paving. Thanks for sharing & enjoy your weekend

Hi Silvio,
Using the window to frame the scene is a good idea. The distance between the window and the horizon is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the field. Have a nice day.

Ciao Silvio,
Excellent view through the "portal' to the vineyards in BG. A great use of colors and light. The depth of field is perfect. A well presented crop allows eyes to remain fixed on the opening with vreat view. Excellently comosed in vertical format. Very nice!

Ciao Silvio,
Gradevolissimo l' effetto visuale. Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona notte,
