A great choice in black and white, it really creates a very intense mood, and highlights the feeling of the title you chose for your image too. Gazing out over the sea to a new life and a new place, I think we have all been there at some point. A great composition on this too.
All the best

it´s like an old man and the sea.
Nicely captured and framed, but above all very well converted into B&W,which gives the image stronger expression.Monochrome captures and conveys also better this unique, for me kind of melancholic feeling of the scene.
Have a nice day

a fascinating study this and one that just works so well in this medium. Alone on what looks like a breezy cool day and that lost in another world atmosphere that emphasises the motive so perfectly here. Excellent!
Have a good week - Brian.

Ciao Romano ,

Buona serata,Luciano

Bravo et amitié

A beautiful but rather melancholy photo. You captured this perfectly and the conversion to B&W makes it look like a scene from an old neo-realistic movie. The main difference is that they used to show Italians working hard for a meal, now it's the poor migrants hoping to survive. The photo is very neatly arranged with the diagonals in the foreground and the man watching the rough sea, looking towards the horizon.

condivido pienamente il commento di Luciano, questa è una splendida immagine, ricca di malinconica poesia.
Anche ieri c'era brutto tempo e questa scena si è ripetuta per tutto il pomeriggio.
Gran bella foto.

very melancholic picture, specially with your choice of black and white. Poor guy, he would be with his family rather than to wait for customers. And bad weather is a loss for him. strong picture. The atmosphere is so beautifully rendered.

A superb mood and atmosphere captured here of the man pondering the distant shores. Good sharpness and tonal range. The different groupings of objects on the beach add depth. Interesting tonal range and patterns in the clouds. Tfs!

A very thought provoking image. Yes, it does give a feeling that he is not really here. Perhaps at his homeland, where he came from, his family and friend, but for a better life, many people from poorer county go to big city to do business like this kind, trying to sell souveniers to tourist...I like the black and white, give it even more nostalgic feeling.

We always think that color reigns although in certain settings the black and white lends itself to stronger impact as depicted and I do feel that mono adds a certain mood to the shot of the prominent which dominates as the eyes are focused straightaway onto the man making the rest becomes secondary. There is something about B&W that makes us notice things instantaneously that we don't notice with color for it gives us a cleaner more simplified and less confusion to the eyes but the impact and pulling power are tremendous and your message is conveyed effectively here, Congrats.

A well captured image - it looks like a scene from a movie... the mood of solitude & want is so evident & I can only imagine how this man is feeling ... waiting for someone ... anyone to buy something from him ... or maybe even just to say hello!!!
I love this image & the choice of B&W is excellent.

an outstanding picture that says more than thousands words. Black & White is a well-chosen medium for this.
Very well captured!

Seems the day wasn't the best one to get some clients. I like the composition with the lonely man watching the sea, the waves in background and all the goods displayed on the ground. Guess he was really lost in his thoughts. I like it in b&w!
