Photographer’s Note

I re-post a picture proposed yesterday. I was criticized because of the over-exposition of the white building. I made a few corrections (HDR) but the contrast between the shadow and the building is too strong. Sorry !!
The shadow of the S.Peter's Dome stands out as threatening, over the white building of the Vatican City. The white building is the "Pontifical Academy of Sciences" founded by Pius XI.
" The aim of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences is to promote the progress of the mathematical, physical and natural sciences and the study of epistemological problems related thereto". (from art. 2 of the Statutes of Academy).
The shadow of the dome makes me think of the power of the Catholic Church and its control over the free and secular human thought, throughout the centuries

la prospettiva dall'alto rende molto interessante l'inquadratura. Il bianco del palazzo spicca molto nelle diverse tonalità di verde. The "shadow" è il convitato di pietra della scena! Complimenti

Ciao Roberto,
l'immagine era difficile da gestire, sono le classiche situazioni in cui il sensore e le modalità di scatto (mi riferisco al RAW) fanno la differenza.
Però è proprio il contrasto tra il bianco abbacinante del'edificio e l'ombra scura del cuppolone ad animare la foto.

trovo questo scatto molto intelligente e diverso dai "soliti" dedicati al "cuppolone". L'ombra è maestosa e sembra sovrastare la natura.

Hello Roberto,

I like this shot very much, with the artistic placement of the shadow of the dome in the direction of Pontifical Academy of Sciences. Since Pius Xi was the Pope between about 1920 and 1940, it was three hundred years too late to help the beleaguered Galileo. Short of using a neutral density filter, it would have been very difficult to avoid the overexposure completely, but this is an excellent shot.

Ciao Roberto,
Molto bella ed originale foto.
La cupola è ancora più impressionante in questo modo! Si direbbe un gigante che si avanza e che schiaccerà le case come formiche minuscole.
In più questa vista dei giardini con il contrasto della casa bianca è bellissimo.
Ottimo lavaro, come detto spesso Giorgio Clementi.
