[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
La valle del Foro, paludosa e inospitale, venne utilizzata tra X e VII secolo a.C. come necropoli dei primi villaggi stanziati sulle colline circostanti. Solamente verso il 600 a.C., ad opera del re etrusco Tarquinio Prisco, venne drenata con la costruzione della Cloaca Massima e ricevette una pavimentazione in tufo; la piazza di forma rettangolare nacque come luogo di mercato oltre che per lo svolgimento della vita politica e giudiziaria, in un punto centrale della città verso cui convergevano molte importanti strade, la più importante delle quali era la Via Sacra, che correva dalle pendici del Campidoglio fino all'Arco di Tito.




The Roman Forum, Forum Romanum, (although the Romans called it more often the Forum Magnum or just the Forum) was the central area around which ancient Rome developed, in which commerce and the administration of justice took place. The communal hearth was also located here. It was built on the site of a past cemetery.
Sequences of remains of paving show that sediment eroded from the surrounding hills was already raising the level of the forum in early Republican times. Originally it had been marshy ground, which was drained by the Tarquins with the Cloaca Maxima. Its final travertine paving, still visible, dates from the reign of Augustus.

Je suppose que tu as ajouté un peu de désaturation partielle du ciel à ton HDR? En tout cas, l'effet obtenu est très spectaculaire et met en valeur ce forum, curieusement désert à cette heure de prise de vue.

I come to Rome at the beginning of August and I hope to see this forum kept silent show it to us almost empty of tourist, and with this threatening sky (but not too much) of the most beautiful effect. We would believe that it is this sky exactly that is at the origin of the damages.

ciao Giorgio, nonostante la pesante post-produzione, che ovviamente esalta artificiosamente il tutto, direi che più che un capolavoro fotografico si tratta di un capolavoro di grafica e di gestione dell'immagine. Vista di primo acchitto l'immagine fa impressione, esaltando la bellezza di uno dei paesaggi urbani più spettacolari del mondo. I colori, le luci, le nuvole, il momento con poca gente: tutto concorre a rendere questa immagine simile ad un quadro romantico. Ottima pure la nitidezza non esagerata e sgranante.

Mi rammarico solo di non poter vedere a pieno formato una di queste immagini che hanno un impatto notevole già col "misero" 800 per 600.
Questo cielo è eccellente e il colonnato a sinistra, che poggia su una delle linee di fuga dell'immagine, da una straordinaria profondità.

the menacing sky renders a superb atmosphere here - very fitting to the ruins. you are lucky to have found such a sky in the middle of july, in a mediterrenean country. here we have a featurless one - very blue but no clouds.

a perfect POV. I've try so many different angles there and non of them look this good. Plus the light and the sky gives the image a very special touch, it looks like a history book image.
