Giordano Bruno (1548 – February 17, 1600) (Latin: Iordanus Brunus Nolanus), born Filippo Bruno, was an Italian Dominican friar, philosopher, mathematician, astrologer and astronomer. His cosmological theories went beyond the Copernican model: while supporting its heliocentrism, he also correctly proposed that the Sun was just another star moving in space, and claimed as well that the universe contained an infinite number of inhabited worlds populated by other intelligent beings. The Roman Inquisition found him guilty of heresy and he was burned at the stake. After his death he gained considerable fame, particularly among 19th- and early 20th-century commentators who, focusing on his astronomical beliefs, regarded him as a martyr for free thought and modern scientific ideas.
Some assessments suggest that Bruno's ideas about the universe played a smaller role in his trial than his pantheist beliefs, which differed from the interpretations and scope of God held by the Catholic Church. In addition to his cosmological writings, Bruno also wrote extensively on the art of memory, a loosely organized group of mnemonic techniques and principles. The historian Frances Yates argues that Bruno was deeply influenced by Arab astrology, Neoplatonism and Renaissance Hermeticism. Other studies of Bruno have focused on his qualitative approach to mathematics and his application of the spatial paradigms of geometry to language.

ciao caro Romano,
I suppose it is the monument on Piazza Campo dei Fiori. Interesting composition, we see only the silhouette on the blue sky background. nice shot.
Warm regards from Warsaw MAlgo

simple scene without many "distractions",but your masterfully execution makes it truly spectacular!
I like how you utilized the light to create unique mood of the scene as well as the timing you chose to capture it.The overflying plane leaving contrail and the bird are eye-catching "distractions" from this beautiful statue.
Magnificent composition with its own unique mood!
Wish You a nice day

The statue of the monk silhouetted against the blue sky takes on an air of mystery. The bird and the vapour trail are interesting additions and help fill the frame though they do tend to move the attention away from the main subject.

a sombre yet fascinating shot this. Just enough detail to intrigue and two sky borne elements to add to the reality and sensuality of the shot. Wonderfully original. Bravo!

This statue as perfect contrast against the blue sky with white line of the plane and the dark bird.
You play excellent with light and shade.
Sharpness and clarity make these picture attractive.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,

C'est pour réussir ce genre de photos que l'on devient photographe amateur. Très original dans sa conception et très bien réalisée à partir d'une technique solide et efficace.

This is a graphically and artistically very successful composition. The white jet-stream and the shaded bird are very interesting complements to the black silhouette of the statue. I guess this was a combination of clever thinking and some luck. In any case the result was superb.

I love the silhouette effect, and this is quite simply put, a beauty! :) A great example of the concept where "less is more." The dark figure set against the blue sky has immediate impact and makes for a soft, but powerful image of this figure. A minimalist approach to the statue that actually makes for a strong atmosphere. It stands dominant and proud on its own, but the addition of the bird and airplane vapor trails in the sky actually gives this a fun touch of liveliness and animation. A delightful mixture of elements. Very well achieved! Have a great day ahead.

I love this composition. You have placed in the frame the history (the monk silhouette), the nature (the flying bird) and the modern technology (the airplane). All well framed in vertical format on nice, pleasant blue background. Excellent, very creative photo.
Ciao e buon fine settimana.

Interesting capture of the silhouette of this statue with the bird flying around! I have a picture of the Christ, in Rio, just like that to post here any of these days! The detail of the plane is also beautiful! Excellent composition!

Romano, what a lovely shot, with the black statue against the deep blue sky. The timing apparently worked out perfectly, with the jet contrails not overlapping the statue, and the bird kindly flying into frame. Very nicely done. I might have considered cropping just a little higher to remove the branches or whatever they are at bottom right to make the shot even cleaner and starker, but that's pretty minor. This is really beautiful. Thanks.

gazing On this sculpture makes me think of hour long it's been here and how much the world has changed in his time. This is enforced by the fact that the vapour trail of the plane is included showing a beautiful collision of the ancient and modern worlds. A fine silhouette too
all the best

A bold silhouetted statue in stark contrast to deep blue background and dominates the frame so majestically. I love the outline of the profile it's pin sharp and the low viewpoint makes this look so grand and impactful. The extras 'things' add some depth into the shot. Congrats

Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buon fine settimana,

My first thought was: Darth Vader but after closer inspection I thought probably another Jedi Master.
Of course after reading your note I know it is Giordano Bruno...
Great composition, very interesting effect!

I saw a movie about his life when I was a child and I never forgot about it. A great man for sure! I like the composition a lot, with the plane crossing the sky and the bird flying. A photo with so much meaning. Great moment!
