Long time ago, when I was still a student in high school, I have received from my friend a picture from Rome taken from this exact POV. I always dreamt about visiting it someday. I didn’t think I will be ever able to afford it. Many years later this dream came true. Equipped with a newly purchased Canon EOS 300 together with my girlfriend who later became my wife I arrived in Rome. Sadly I didn’t know about the existence of blue hour at that time. It was also in pre-digital times, hence it is a scan from negative. I knew I want to find this exact POV and try it by night.
This little story is for me an evidence that dreams do come true. Now my dream is to visit this place in the future again, show it to my daughter, and take this photo again at the blue hour with a digital camera.

une très belle photo de nuit. Le POV est bien choisi, la vue est superbe, les reflets, les couleurs, les lumière, tout très beau. La qualité de la photo permet d'apprécier tous les détails.

Although this picture was taken thirteen years ago on 35mm colour negative film with a Canon EOS 300 SLR, I would certainly be very happy if I could produce an image as good as this with my digital SLR nowadays! You must have an excellent scanner and also some excellent abilities in processing too!
All right, it's not the "blue hour" here, but does that really matter? The sky might be pure black but the artificial light more than makes up for that with beautiful lighting on the bridge and on the building on the right with its glorious dome.
Thank you for your inclusion of a map too - if I've read your map correctly, I think the bridge must be Ponte Sant Angelo and the large domed building must be St. Peter's Basilica - am I right?
No, Mariusz, do not complain. I think that this is a fabulous photograph with gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness. And even more impressive that it was scanned from a negative! It's a phtotograph I'd be very proud to have taken today.
P.S. But, yes, Mariusz, you must take your daughter (and your digital camera) back here! Oh, yes, and your wife too! :o)

I hope you get to have the closure you're looking for, and what a way to complete that by having your daughter along side you!
Like you, Blue Hour isn't known to everyone and i certainly didn't know about it in my early days of taking photos.
this scan turned out pretty good my friend, in fact I can't really tell at all. Lovely view, perhaps I'll see it myself in May when i visit!

Cześć Muriusz, Fantastyczne zdjęcie z Twojego archiwum. Co tam blue hour, ten nocny widok z gwiazdkami zapiera dech. Super ostrość i kolory. I świetna jakośc scanu. Marzenia sie spełniają, jeśli tego bardzo chcesz, więc jestem pewna, że i to spełni się bliskiej przyszłości. Też mam zdjęcie z tego miejsca, ale nie tak efektowne, niestety :(

piekna notka, ktora uzupelnia to czarujace zdjecie.
Ladnie rozgrane swiatlo i mnostwo refleksow ktore wzbogacaja kompozycje.
Warto marzyc, bo czasem faktycznie te marzenia sie spelniaja :-)

like you I visited Rome before the digital age and only have a few shots even worthy of posting here, but this is wonderful. Transition into digital is perfect - well done!

I have no doubt that you will achieve your dream. When there is a strong focus on an event, it does become possible.
THis is a beautiful night time photograph and is as good as any blue hour photograph could possibly be. Your daughter would be entranced by it. The artificial lights reflecting on the water, make it look like ice. The bridge creates a very interesting separation line and the Basilica is strongly placed.
I've no doubt that, after the first magic of the moment, you would be able to explain about the compositional features! It is a lovely, very achievable dream!
My warm regards,

Fabulous night shot, Mariusz, your trade-mark photography.
Excelent details of the dome and bridge, reflected on water, and most importent - no excessive bulbs-glare.

It seems a good night capture plenty of good reflects on the silk waters taken with a digital camera
Of course you must return at the blue hour ( what a boring program for a litke girl)
If I am right this is the bridge Sant Angelo but I remember visiting it and seen the Vatican from a terrace, not so close as is here

Perfect night shot, with the lights perfectly captured and a very nice sharpness! The reflections on the water are a beautiful detail! Wonderful composition!

Ahhh so beautiful and a shot that makes me nostalgic for the Eternal City. I have a shot similar, although not as good as yours. I love the close up on the domes and the old bridge of Rome. Have you heard the song I Ponti Di Roma? A very romantic song, perfect to accompany your photo.

Ciao e buona settimana

a fine conversion to digital has ensured that you have lost none of the charm and interest of the original slide, the details are nicely sharp and very clear and whilst the blue hour sky may be missing it remains a first class photograph with pleasing natural colours.
A shot to treasure.
Kind regards Les.

You will make it for sure:)! Seems the scanner kept its quality, it's a good night shot, with a good pov and exposure. Even if it's not in the blue hour, it's a good shot!
