Photographer's Note
Centrale Montemartini, Roma.
The thermal power station of Montemartini, in the via Ostiense area, next to the Tiber river was opened in 1912 (it took the name of the economist Giovanni Montemartini - one of its main fouders - in 1913).
It was a proprerty of the Roma community.
In a dual-system (steam and diesel), it was supplied in water by the Tiber.
But it became obsolete in the 60's and get disused.
Restored in 1989-1990, it received in 1997 an exhibition of pieces from the Capitole museums which were in renovation. The event was called "The machines and the gods".
In front of its success, it was decided to make this large place a permanent museum, into the complex of the Capitole museums.

Bonsoir Yannis
Amicalement
