In the Piazza Mattei, sits this delightful Fontana delle Tartarughe. It was made in the late 1500s for the neighboring Piazza Giudea. Muzio Mattei, whose family owned all the houses in Piazza Mattei, insisted in front of his palazzo. In return he paved the piazza and promised to keep it clean.
It was designed by Giacomo delle Porta. It's made of bronze, rather than marble, and it is really exquisite. Four pretty boys help the turtles into the water.
Do like me, get lost in the ghetto, and you will for sure arrive to Piazza Mattei. The pretty boys are waiting for you. Art, beauty, placidity.
