Photographer's Note
The town Monte San Biagio is situated on a small hill 133 metres high, detached from mountains Fate (1090 m) and Calvo (1038 m). The town lies next to the Via Appia, once the main road from Rome to Campania. It is also connected by a branch of the Via Flacca from Terracina to Gaeta. The city is served by a railway station on the mainline Rome-Naples. Although Terracina has a spur of railway coming from Rome's direction, the main railway connection is from the station of Monte San Biagio, where you have a bus connection from Terracina.
The urban structure of the town (now around 6000 inhabitants in the whole municipality) consists of a nucleus of buildings resting against a bare rock, narrow streets that turn into flights of steps. From the hill one has a great view over the Fondi plain and the lake of the same name. The historical sights include the castle, which was closed and under restoration during my visit and the church of San Giovanni Battista.

Vikipedia:
The origins of the current city date back from the Middle Ages, when a castle was founded (over Roman ruins) here as a stronghold of the Duchy of Gaeta first and, later, of the Duchy of Fondi. The first document mentioning the Castrum Monticelli, however, is from 1099, from the archives of Monte Cassino. In the following centuries it was a fief of Fondi, a possession of the dell'Aquila family from 1145. Later it was ruled by the Colonna, the Carafa, the Mansfeld and the Di Sangro, as art of the Kingdom of Naples.
In the winter of 1788 it was sacked by the French army, while, after the Bourbon restoration and the subsequent unification of Italy, the neighbourhood was the base of brigantage. In 1862 the name was first changed to Monte San Vito and, soon later, to the current Monte San Biagio.

This view is taken from the winding road leading from the railway station up to the town. The tower on the right is the bell tower of San Giovanni Battista and the one on the left is the tower of the castle.

Hej Lasse,
The houses are climbing the hill here in a very attractive way. There must be a very nice view from the top buildings here (and probably alot of nice reataurants as well). Good note!

Ciao Lasse,
it's really true, the foreigners often succeed in photographing the Italy better of the Italians. This is an excellent example. Compliments for the good neatness and sharp and for the composition in diagonal. Bravo!
Ciao
Paolo.

Hi Lasse, I really liked your perspective in this photo. Thanks to your point of view, the texture of this ancient city is quite visible. Your note is also very informative. In my opinion, the share of the sky is more than necessary in the photo. I would only cut a little bit from the above. Good work. Well done !

Hello Lasse,
Thank you very much for your interesting history note, I have something learned today.
You show us a very nice panorama view with the city on the slope of the mountain.
I like the green trees between the housethis care for a very good composition.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regard,
John.

Hi Lasse,
Such a small town on top of its hill is quite a very representative view of Italy, you had here a comprehensive POV and the lower position allows to detach top of the skyline over the blue sky.
Have a nice day JY
