Photographers Note
An image took from a boat on the Grado Lagoon, lookint to the Friuli Alps and to the Santuario della Madonna di Barbana, that is located on a small island in the middle of the lagoon.
It was settled in the VIII Century.
In that image there's many about Friuli, sea, lagoon, plateau, Alps and church.
The excellent wine of Friuli was in my belly!

Hi Paolo.
I like your BW shots, but not here, I think that colour one would be better because the details of the church and mountains are too small for BW. Clouds are truely fantastic and their colour is lost. I'm sure that you'l get better critiques than mine :)))

Paolo,
I completely disagree with Aleks on this one! I think the use of mono is entirely appropriate here - I see nothing in this shot that warrants the need for colour.
The texture and bulk of the clouds, the jagged snow-capped horizon, the soft form of the trees and hard form of the church. These are all shapes/textures/shades - colour would have just made the viewer think about the weather!
The lanscape was made to be mono :-)

Olį Paolo,
You are getting a b/w addicted. I tend to agree a bit with Aleks. I would love to see the color version in WS. I'm sure that it must be great as well. Nevertheless, I like very much this attractive landscape, the way you presented here. The depth in the sky is amazing and I also love the snowed mountains that seem to be sunshined. Keep experimenting!

Paolo,
beautiful!excellent black and white shot!We get a good view of all the landsape of teh area, adn it looks like a fairytale, with a castle, etc....i would also likeo see it in black and white, so the sky gives a even greater impact in contrast with the landscape!
well done~ beautiful!

Hi Paolo,
I agree with different writers, BW here give a very lovely composition and difficult for made image, but colour gives always a better and attractive look, it's very difficult pictures are always very subjective, but the photographer is decisive!

It seems that opinions are divided on the use of B&W here. You probably know I am a colour freak but also can appreciate B&W. The sepia tone is very minimal here and is closer to true B&W. The detail is very sharp and it is an attractive photo; I'm just hankering to see it in colour. The other thing I like is the way the levels of the clouds seem to mimis the mountains; maybe that would not be so apparent in colour.
I think you could say I'm sitting on the fence (English expression for I can't make up my mind.)

Hi Paolo
Personally I would have preferred colour for this, though you have a nice range of tones which does work well in monochrome - especially the touch of snow on the mountains. Nice composition and subject matter under the moody sky.

Hi Paolo
This is a much more dramatic shot than previous ones in this sepia series. The detail is also more distinct. I like the way you have emphasized the different layers of cloud and its dynamic formation. The structuring of the composition to emphasize the sky has delivered good impact and a nice balance. Well achieved.

I like the tonal values of this photograph. The sky's cloud formation helps a lot to give interest to the picture.

Hola Paolo.
Impressive shot in B&W with so beautiful view, amazing stormy clouds, good POV. Would be nice to see this picture also in color to see how the landscape looks. Please just a suggestion, next time make a WS with the picture in color to see the difference.
Good work, well done. TFS.

Hi Paolo,
Amazing textures in this well composed shot. One becomes absorbed in studying all the various layers of cloud here, which you wisely left in large proportions. The snowcapped mountains with the spire of the church below, with the water in the foreground, all come together in this inspiring shot. I would not have guessed that this would work so well in B&W, but it is indeed apropos. Very well seen and presented, Paolo. Have a good weekend.
