No more border! Photo

Photographer’s Note

This picture is dedicated to Catherine "noborders", as you can imagine!
I post it a few hours before this border between Italy and Jugoslavia (first, years ago) and now between Italy and Slovenja Republic will fall, since Slovenja will totally belong to European Union.

It is a pity that I couldn't post the name of two different nations in the same picture! So I wrote "Italy" because my feet were in Italy when I shot this picture.

It is a sculptor's simple work in the ground of "Piazza Transalpina", where once there was a wall. In fact, after second world war a border -and a wall- cut in two areas an urban square.

In 2004 Slovenja wento into Europe community, and now, in december 2007, every border is going to be taken off, since no passport is necessary yet.

Great shot, the approach is a good mint composition of this board, in the central part below is a small red cloth scarf find his ?....

geniale foto , pensnado ai vecchi confini mi vengono in mente ,
il grande numero di forze e armamenti schierate in quei posti , ormai solo caserme desolate che spero presto vengano riutilizzate per scopi piu' nobili . Anche se qualcuno continua ad ampliare ed armarsi

una bel contributo per questo momento storico ! Anche per me, che lavoro in questi tre paesi Austria-Italia-Slovenia, adesso e´ piu´facile viaggiare. Siamo tutti vicini adesso nella zona alpe-adria.

beh....qualche anno fa mi fecero vedere la stazione vecchia di gorizia (in territorio sloveno)..un muro...e le case italiane.
molto particolare devo dire...

Mi fa molto piacere...
Yes, physical borders will disappear, Slovenia is closer now, but mentalities are still different : people seemed to me very "Germanic" and not so "Italian" in their attitudes and way of living when I was there...

No borders ! Is it a good thing ? I guess so - took this alias when I was terribly scared to cross borders overland in central Asia, let us imagine ourselves in the skin of those people from ex-Yougoslavia, on their way to west Europe and dream of a united Europe...

Time is moving, let us adapt ourselves ! But you in Italy face many more migration problems than we do in our little Belgium (where there could be more borders soon, if politicians from the south and the north of our country cannot come to an agreement !)

It's a wonderful thing to see borders dropping away in Europe; travel is so much more pleasant now. Pity we have such a backward 'leader'

Ciao Livia,
eh sì, un altro grande evento in questo mondo che cambia e si globalizza sempre di più. Giusto stasera si sono tenuti i festeggiamenti con tanto di fuochi d'artificio per la caduta del confine, qui al valico di Rabuiese. Avendo la terrazza con vista valle, mi sono goduto lo spettacolo da un pdv perfetto e con un elicottero che per quasi un'ora ci gironzolava sopra la testa, a bassa quota. Comunque, finchè la Croazia rimane fuori, per noi che abbiamo il lasciapassare cambia poco. Le code estive per andare in Istria nei fine settimana, non ce le leva nessuno...almeno ancora per un bel po'(:D.

Adesso è solo un ricordo, mai visitato quei luoghi, ma dalla televisione la vista della piazza divisa a metà era di una tristezza infinita.
Bella proposta Livia, simbolica e interessante oltre che importante per il momento in cui l'hai inserita. Per il luogo della foto citerei Europa e basta, se si potesse fare, ma non ha importanza.

Very symbolic foto and moment, especially in this region of Europa, where there was the very less known Gorizia/Gorica Wall.
Fortunatelly it's almost the end of the Iron Curtain.
Unfortunately other walls remain.
I noticed that you located the photo in
"Italy >> Friuli-Venezia Giulia >> Gorizia >> Nova Gorica"
but Nova Gorica is in Slovenija. You're smart. Well done!
