Photographer’s Note
This is one of the two guarding lions of Modena that flank entrance to the Duomo. Although some sources claim the lions date back to XI - XIII century, when the Romanesque Duomo was built, the majority of pundits point out a much older origin. The lions, it is said, were created during Roman times. They were probably discovered while digging foundations of the Duomo.
