Photographer’s Note

Here we see the wonderful "Podesta' building" in the square of Castell'Arquato. A really extraordinary middle age village in the north west of Emilia Romagna region.
Infos from ricercahotel.com: "...dates back to 1292, although it subsequently underwent constant restoration. The outer staircase was part of the original project, while the so-called “Loggia dei Notari” (Loggia of the Notaries) dates back to '400. The loggia is the current seat of the Municipal wine cellar. "

NOW LET'S COME TO THE TITLE:
when I bought my first digital reflex, a Nikon D60, I started to look for a very wide lens because aI love to take architectural picture and often I'm in the situation of being not able to include entire facades in a single shot. Then I started to talk about this with my friend Igor Corvato (wishlist), I met him on TE. I was looking to SIGMA 10-20 but in his opinion it wasn't the first choice, but...yesterday I was in an electronic shot and when, talking with the dealer, he offered me a 50 EUR discount I couldn't resist!!!!
This is one of the first shot I took with it, I corrected a bit perspective distorsion.

What do you think, was a good choice? ;)

A very beautiful architecture picture with a good composition. A detail: the streetlantern in the upper corner is of course on the right place for the composition but it also has a unusual but beautiful form.

ottimo POV che ci permette di vedere l'immagine con un effetto tridimensionale.

Ottima la luminosità e lo sharp.
Vedo anche delle buone prospettive.
Piacevole anche l'inserimento del lampione sulla sinistra.

Altrochè se è un'ottima scelta. Ora chi ti ferma più. Una resa prospettiva ottimale. Luminosisima e ottimamente contrastata. Ottma la sceltadi lasciare il lampione inalto a destra. 10-20 promosso alla prima. Una cornicetta l'avrei messa, bianca.

So, this is a Sigma 10-20 picture. I think it is very good. Very clear and very sharp too. I have been undecided between the Sigma and the Canon but have not yet made any decision. May be a need a discount too!!! Is that lamp not a bit distorted by the wide angle? What do you think?
Anyway, it is a very beautiful picture of what seams to be a wonderful little town. Well done.

ma sorry di che?! ;o) se ti e' piaciuto e sei convinto dell'acquisto hai fatto solo bene; alla fine l'importante e' portare a casa la foto, che poi ci possa essere antipatia/simpatia per le diverse case prodittrici di lenti...beh, e' il bello del mondo reflex ;o)
ad ogni modo, ripreso e presentato bene con un cielo amico che fa la sua bella figura. A voler fare il pignolo avrei chiuso a f/8 il diaframma visto che come tempi eri in tutta sicurezza, cosi' da avere una maggiore profondita' nei dettagli. (hai provato a dare una occhiata a photozone e al suo test?)

come primo utilizzo del nuovo obiettivo direi niente male davvero, anzi... l'uso di un grandangolare spinto si vede forse nel lampione in alto a sinistra, per il resto direi tutto perfetto.
L'acquisto del 10-20 sigma è il prossimo regalo che vorrei farmi: aspetto i tuoi scatti e la tua opinione per la conferma.

It's a fine shot, the fact is, all camera has it's good and not so good things, you just need to learn to use it for it's full capability. I have not yet been able to do so. A good photographer can use just about any camera of the same level and come up with a great shot, as you do here. Well done, and congrats on the new toys.

non mi addentro in particolari tecnici su obiettivi e affini, in quanto l'amico Igor è sicuramente più adatto di me a darti consigli, ma questa foto è sicuramente bella e dà sicuramente quella sensazione di ampiezza che tu cercavi. La bellezza architettonica dell'edificio enfatizza i giochi di luci e ombre, davanti ad un cielo meravigliosamente azzurro. Complimenti.

L'edificio è uscito tutto intero con questo nuovo grandangolo, la risoluzione mi sembra ottima e la foto è di classe.

Architettura dal robusto profilo figurativo compenetrata alla città da diversi portici.
Il gioco di luci e ombre rende la visione stimolante, infatti ho guardato e riguardato più volte la foto.

well the lens works very well, you 've got lots of details in a great framing and composition. the building to me a little overexposed and there might be a little distortion in the lamp? or may be is the original shape
