Yesterday was the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, which coincided with a spell of splendid weather following last weekend's snowfall. So to celebrate I got out my snow-shoes and headed off into the Apennine mountains an hour's drive away from my home.
The mountain on the right is Corno alle Scale, at 1945 metres the highest in the province of Bologna and a popular skiing area.
I took this shot from Serra dei Baichetti, a panoramic point along the ridge separating the provinces of Modena and Bologna.

Nice layers of color you give us here from the warmer reds on the bottom to the colder blue bands at the top. The lit foreground and shadows in the mid-ground work well.

Wonderful light on the BG slopes as well as the FG trees. Nicely done and well composed.

I like this idea of celebrating the days, the passing seasons, like it was done in olden times...respecting these rythms of nature...
Your image is lovely, with great warm tones mixing with the colder ones particularly on the right side, very beautiful!
Warm wishes for a very Happy New Year to you and your close ones !
All the best
