Photographer’s Note

This is the last posting of my short series about the Italian Gay Pride Parade 2008 in Bologna, whishing Italy a more colourful future as it might look like today.

I would like to dedicate this shot to Miguel, waiting for his pics from Madrid.

Gay Pride Parades (or LGBT Parades for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) are hold all over the world in this period to commemorate the riots against police raids at the Stonewall Inn in Christopher Street, New York on June 28th 1969 (Christopher Street Day). These events are generally considered to be the beginning of the modern gay rights movement. The parades are a mix of civil right requests, a resistance against homophobia but also a feast.

In these doom days in Italy while racism, xenophobia, intolerance, search for scapegoats is rising, these parades are particularly important not ony for the LGBT - comunity but for everybody who loves freedom, democracy and mutual respect for different ways of life.

Le parate del Gay Pride si svolgono in tutto il mondo in questo periodo per commemorare la rivolta contro i sopprusi della polizia nel locale gay Stonewall Inn di Christopher Street a New York il 28 giugno 1969. Questi eventi vengono considerati generalmente come nascita del movimento di liberazione omosessuale internazionale. Le parate sono un mix di rivendicazioni di diritti civili, di resistenza all'omofobia ma anche di festa.

In questi tristi giorni dove in Italia sembra che prenda il sopravvento il razzismo, la xenofobia, la ricerca di capri espiatori queste manifestazioni sono particolarmente preziose non solo per la comunità omosessuale ma per chiunque abbia a cuore la libertà, la democrazia, il rispetto reciproco per chi conduce diversi stili di vita.

mi piace questa serie di scatti dedicata ad una manifestazione di libertà. Qui è bellissimo vedere la luce che colpisce le bandiere iridate.

Si grande luminosità e bei colori accesi. Ancor più interessante la profondità resa dalle plafoniere sul cielo color latte in cui sembrano galleggiare.

Ciao Günther.
E' un ambiente a me lontano, quello della foto di reportage, ma apprezzo questa composizione. Ci sono molti elementi che danno il senso della prospettiva, dalla "fuga" delle facciate all'allineamento dei lampioni sospesi su due file sfasate. Le bandiere fanno un bell'effetto di trasparenza in controluce. La foto trae slancio dalla direzione della manifestazione (la maggior parte dei partecipanti sono ripresi di spalle), che procede nel senso dello sguardo di chi osserva l'inquadratura.

grazie innanzi tutto per questa tua serie sul Gay Pride.
Questa foto è bella e strana: bello il controluce con le bandiere e il corteo, e strano vedere delle donne che camminano in qua, in senso inverso, e una delle quali con la faccia un po' triste.

En regardant cette image et dans la multitude de personnes, je trouve qu’il y a un visage qui accroche tout de suite le regard : c’est la demoiselle souriante avec les trois marques rouges sur la figure.
C’est une chouette image accompagnée d’une note très intéressante,

A colourful picture with all the flag in the street, very nice daily life picture.
Through the both fronts get we a very nice perspective, with the end far in background.

A very good photo taken into the light. The flags look fantastic with the light shining through, and the two buildings on the sides make an excellent contrasting framing device for the flags and happy people. An excellent exposure and a very well proportioned shot of this event. Well done.

One-making style newsworthy many successful. Although the sky did not help much, the colour that is reflected on it, dissolves this inconvenience.

The viewpoint has been the best, and the prospect, with all that large numbers of people who show, is very well balanced.

Hola Guenther...

Además de la nota, me gusta mucho la luz rozando las figuras y dándoles un halo de alegría y diría de dignidad... y me gusta mucho también la explosión de banderas, es como un grito abierto al horizonte, como tú dices, de respeto, tolerancia... Que se cumplan tus palabras. Bella foto, Guenther, bella serie. Gracias!
