This is Amalfi on the world famous Costiera Amalfitana, the Amalfi Coast. I'm feeling really homesick for Italia today, so looking through my photos has helped a little.
Amalfi, founded around the 6th Century, is one of many beautiful glittering little towns that dot this breath-taking coast, alongside Positano, Ravello, Maiori, Minori, Praiano and Salerno. If I ever win the lottery, it will be here along this coast that I will live. Once the capital of a powerful and important maritime republic, Amalfi today is a popular tourist destination. Its cathedral, San Andrea, is in the Byzantine and Barocque stile, with a majolica tiled dome, impressive cloisters, a golden reliquary and world-class works of art by artists such as Bernini and Naccherino (a pupil of Michaelangelo).

I have never been there but I would like very much to go one day. I like the colors of the declining sun that lights fire on the coast. Italy at it's best.
Have a nice day

A beautiful image that brings a ray of sunshine to your life. I like the framing and the way the buildings seemingly cling to the rocky cliff forever climbing upwards. Attractive warm light and colours.

Buona serata e complimenti,Luciano

A moment of glowing golden light, Lisa - and as usual - so beautifully collected.
All elements shown superbly clear, from the far side boats on the marina and uphill's church tower and houses on the cliff.
Pleasent to look at, cheers.
sabermonajati (11281) 2014-03-11 5:38
wonderful view from this place with attractive light you captured.

The colours and light give Amalfi the look of a glowing golden dream location Lisa. I can understand how looking at your Italy shots would bring both pleasure and a little pain. This is marvelous, beautiful detail which explains the location and charm of the resort town very well.
Warm regards Rosemary

The warm and yellow colors of this photo gives me a feeling that I also want to go there.
Kamilutka (8107) 2014-03-11 8:06
wow, what a light you had there! It makes the whole city look like dipped in liquid gold and it adds so much to already beautiful scenery. Great work! I like basically everything about this picture, the colors, the composition, the sharpness...

the intense colours of this picture perhaps reflect strong emotions and feelings. You handled them with great skill to present a spectacular composition of this lovely Italian town.
( I am indeed honoured that a photographer of your calibre and experience should care to visit my gallery and critique my picture. .. Thank you).
Have a great new day.

a photo as if from another world, fantastic, congratulate you!
ktanska (28140) 2014-03-11 11:15
That light is just perfect. Tone is very warm and still shadows don't look long like in late afternoon. Did you use filter of adjust colours?
Steep seaside slopes and tightly built town is charming as always.
dekanski (5642) 2014-03-11 11:20
The composition is great, but the colors (although in itself beautiful) does not seem realistic. But maybe you just like that!
Noel_Byrne (32090) 2014-03-11 11:21
What a place. What a view, and what a capture. The light here seems to be shining from heaven itself to illuminate this most beautiful place. I think I said before how I love to see towns stacked up like this against the coast, it reminds me of the ancient world. It seems every resident here has an amazing view. The scene is really expansive too, with the people on the beach looking so tiny and the town towering above like a place from legend.
I am not surprised you would miss a place like. I miss it too, and I've never even been there. Though someday....
Have a great evening.
P.S. Love the title!

Ciao cara Lisa,
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,

I've visited Amalfi long time ago but haven't seen it in such golden colours!
Neither did I ever see such a beautiful picture of it.
I wonder what your viewpoint was ...
The coastline itself is really spectacular, the towns look so pretty but here you captured a very extraordinary sight.
Best regards, Paul

good to see you posting another photo!
its pretty darn easy to see why you'd want to live here, and easy to understand why i'd want to travel here.
thats some pretty sweet golden light! what the heck, where did all that sun come from!??
really cool to see how the buildings are built straight into and around the cliffs, and the tiny arch/tunnel on the far left.
this photo was taken less than 1 year ago, easy to understand your sickness :)
see you around

Ciao cara Lisa,
WOW! This is a stunner!! And I can quite understand how anyone would love to spend the rest of their days in this gorgeous place!
You have made the very most of the bright warm sunlight as it preferentially lights up the faces of these magnificent buildings as they climb up the mountainside, making them stand out beautifully against the much darker rocks and vegetation. Even the little red, white and blue sunshades on the beach are lit up as if by magic!
An excellent composition, the shoreline leading the eye nicely across the frame, gorgeous light and vibrant colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Fantastica Amalfi, soprattutto con questa bellissima luce! Bravissima!! Bello vedere in galleria fra tanti bei posti anche qualche gioiello Italiano! Grazie!!

I am drawn into this beautiful Mediterranean spot by your scenic waterfront, classical buildings climbing the steep mountainside, and everything in golden lighting.
Visiting the Mediterranean is high on my bucket-list especially since I majored in history and enjoyed Italian and Greek classes.
Thanks for sharing,

emka (100793) 2014-03-11 23:46
Magnuificent view of Amalfi, magnificent light you had there. Amazing composition, specially when we can admire it in big format. The small blue umbrellas contrast so beautiful with the golden rest. When I see such photos I am also sick for Italia. I haven't been to Amalfian coast yet. Maybe it would be the time to change it.
krzychu30 (15512) 2014-03-12 1:47
I knew Amalfi coastline is beautiful and very picturesque, but your work here makes the scene takes on a new,for me fabulous look and character. The light and how it affects the color scheme is just magnificent and it helps you to make the scene so atmospheric and unique.
And I can also easily understand wha you feel homesick:)Not easy to leave such beautiful places like this.
I can only wish You to come back as soon as possible to Italy again.

This photo from fairy tales book. Amalfi in brilliant light, nicely saturate colors and an abundance of superb details. The nice tight crop is excellent, your viewpoint perfect.
Very well done.

Very scenic location for photography with its amazing characterful architecture and the bdrop and a well taken shot seen from this impressive POV. What a great viewpoint that you have a defining moment image here and such a pleasure to view although the warm light is too hot to handle for me but you did manage sucessfully. I love the warm colour with Mediterranean feel...
Well done, tfs

Hi Lisa - this shot is making me feel a bit homesick for Italy too, even though I've never been there and have no Italian heritage! Brilliant bright light, and you've really used the shape of the shoreline to your advantage. Thanks! Hope all is well.

I know this spot. I got off the bus from Napoli in the distance seen here, and walked to Atrani and again to the pier for a daytrip to Capri. I also see the tents on the concrete pier/breakwater selling boat tickets. Nostalgia! A truly magical part of the world, with a lovely golden afternoon light. Nice repetition of the many beach umbrellas. Tfs!

Back doing a bit of TE after the drama that I mentioned when we ran into you. Evening? A bit had to tell given the camera data - but a fascinating photo.

Ciao cara Lisa,
Splendida Amalfi nel tramonto. Hai scelto un eccellente POV e un bel taglio. Mi piace i toni dorati.

Stunner! Wow, just sow. Did you use any golden filter for this one? I really liked the golden touch in this image. Stunning views, with subjects that are really interesting. I really liked how the houses are cramped and piled up next to each other. Really beautiful. I need to visit this place this May (I hope I have enough free days).
Thanks for sharing this one! Really beautiful.
P.S. Saw your posts in Fb about the crisis in Ozzy. I hope y'all get through this turmoil soon.

Hello dear Lisa,
It is really a very shiny view of the town of Amalfi.Sharp with good details, well saturated colors and nice composition. Well done. TFS.
Subhogen (4067) 2014-03-27 23:57
Lovely view of the town overlooking the sea in this beautiful golden light. The houses glowing in the nice warm light seems to be made gold and the contrast they make with the dark cliffs is fantastic. Excellent composition from your distant POV with the curve of the beach. Superb shot with opulent colours and good clarity. Thanks for sharing.
kathryn_weir (2056) 2014-04-09 23:09
I am having fun browsing your gallery and seeing what you have been up to and where! it is fun having a little time to be back in the TE community.
I was drawn to the quality of the light in this shot- pure gold! You have framed it beautifully to include the smallest of details such as the contrasting beach umbrellas yet still retain the overall setting - beautifully balanced.
I love the way the eye follows the curve of the beach then jumps onto the zig-zagging road up through towards the top corner.
Congratulations on a superb shot
Thanks for sharing

Just an amazing light, it looks so unreal with all these golden tones ! The place seems to be very vertiginuous, too.
kwekwekan (1078) 2014-05-20 18:17
The golden tone of your picture is simply stunning. Great POV and composition as well.
