On a sunny morning in October, 2013 we took a boat ride from Amalfi to Positano along the famous Amalfi Coast of Italy. Shortly after returning to the United States I posted a photo from Positano, Close Packing Italian Style. In the present photograph I wanted to show the harmony that exists between nature and the local architecture, a harmony to which the architects of the area have long aspired. What might be regarded as impossibly steep and uninhabitable terrain in other lands becomes a welcome challenge for the local architects to produce organic designs for their buildings.
Here the diagonal bands of light and shadows, and a sharp Nikkor lens collaborated in capturing the eye catching scene.
In the attached workshop is a view of the crowded boat that October morning.

Perfect lighting for this well presented image. I like the way the buildings rise up the hillside creating a strong diagonal for the composition. Very good colours and sharpness.

yes, the Almalfi coast!
who doesn't want to visit such a place?!
We were recently in Italy but just didn't have the time to make it here...perhaps next time.
I appreciate the WS photo too, shows the hovering dark clouds above yet the people on the boat seem to be smiling and enjoying every moment.
sharp image here, and i like that you included a piece of the cliff not covered in trees, just gives that extra sense of danger i suppose :)
smart looking post, well chosen angle.
enjoy your day

une très belle composition, un beau village qui grâce à la lumière se détache idéalement de la végétation sombre du fond. Une très belle capture.

beautifully lit town which gains even more attraction by picturesque location on the slope of the hill. I like the POV you chose and the way the dark background makes the town stand out from the settings. Nice framing and well given sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

Hello Bulent ,
A gorgeous view of Positano , with a superb contrast between white buildings and the darkest hills in the BG . The splendid Church provides an excellent focal point .
Beautiful détails and perfect sharpness .

Hello Bulent - Sadly we didn't get to visit the Amalfi Coast during our recent time in Italy. I hear that it is spectacular and the most attractive coastal region. Still... all the more reason to visit again!
Your shot is finely defined with the crisp white buildings well lit and nicely contrasted by the deeper green-grey tones of the backdrop.
Interesting to see the WS too.

The morning light is reflected beautifully by the mainly white buildings but almost lost among the trees, creating a splendid play of light and semi-darkness along the sloping hill. These contrasts are underscored by the much darker area in the background. The long white diagonal gives the composition a good balance.

A beautiful sight, this town spread over the city and the buildings are significant too, that church looks like an impressive structure! The light was very kind to illuminate this place so perfectly.
thanks as always
P.S. Sorry for my delay re your visit in September, work has me very busy and I have fallen behind on TE. I would be delighted to meet you and show you some sights, and have booked the first week in September off work, as I am not sure what day you will visit. I will email you over the weekend. Have a great day.

Bonjour, cher ami Bulent,
Quelle image en découvrant la version large. Ce village accroché au flanc de la montagne est de toute beauté.
L'ambiance générale de la composition est fort bien présentée.
Un réel plaisir à contempler.
Très bonne journée.

Pleasing detail of a part of Positano perched high in the mountains. The light is very appealing here and the impressive church stands nicely out. It is good to have inclucluded the wider view in the WS in order to be able to put this scene in perspective of its surroundings.
have a great weekend

Thumbs up! I like this impressive view, I have never been in this part of Italy and I don't have the time for a detailed traveling as always. Outstanding view of the town in the morning sunlights! TFS!
My family is closer to you than to me today. They are in NYC, with our daughter.

Hola dear Bulent
Creative and personal way to present Positano from the sea, quite agree with the harmony village vegetation
But light on the city is what calls the attention because of the triangle inside which you manage the capture
Well seen, king regards
