"The Archeological site of Paestum
Located in the South-East of the Gulf of Salerno, in the Southern part of the Piana del Sele, Paestum is an archaeological site of extreme importance, recognised by UNESCO as part of the World Cultural Heritage, along with the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano.
Founded by the Greeks around the seventh century. BC with the name of Poseidon, the city was later occupied by Lucanians until 273 BC, when Rome made Poseidon a thriving colony, giving it its current name.
The beginning of the Middle Ages marked its irreversible decline."
This is one place to visit if you're staying in the south of Italy. The ruins are in excellent conditions and I was lucky to have great weather: I had an amazing cloudless sky. I loved the huge tree in front of the ruins and decided to include it in this composition. Of course, it looks a lot bigger, because it's in the foreground. Later, I'll post a picture where you can get an idea of how large they are by comparing them with the people walking around.

You have both an artist's and a scientist's eye. I like you photos very much.
What a pleasure to see your photo from Paestum. It is a site that few seem to know, and yet is a gem symbolic of the Greek presence in the Italian boot. I posted a pair of photos from from this remarkable site a few years ago: Temple of Hera — Paestum and
Temple of Hera — Paestum.
Also, in your note, you cite the link, http://www.italia.it/en/discover-italy/campania/poi/the-archeological-site-of-paestum.html. It is quite easy to make this a "live link," as Paestum. If you drop me a note at my email address, email@example.com, I will give you the simple code.
