Photographer's Note

"The Archeological site of Paestum

Located in the South-East of the Gulf of Salerno, in the Southern part of the Piana del Sele, Paestum is an archaeological site of extreme importance, recognised by UNESCO as part of the World Cultural Heritage, along with the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano.
Founded by the Greeks around the seventh century. BC with the name of Poseidon, the city was later occupied by Lucanians until 273 BC, when Rome made Poseidon a thriving colony, giving it its current name.
The beginning of the Middle Ages marked its irreversible decline."

This is one place to visit if you're staying in the south of Italy. The ruins are in excellent conditions and I was lucky to have great weather: I had an amazing cloudless sky. I loved the huge tree in front of the ruins and decided to include it in this composition. Of course, it looks a lot bigger, because it's in the foreground. Later, I'll post a picture where you can get an idea of how large they are by comparing them with the people walking around.

Just resized to meet TE standards.
