Photographer’s Note
Amalfi...a beautyful spot on the Amalfitanian coast. Houses are build on a narrow valley and most of them are placed on mountain walls. There are narrow streets, basically stairways, connecting the village. Today it has a population of 5000 plus all tourists passing by...Up to the 13th century it was a big economical kingdom which traded with the Ottoman empire, the population ranged the 70.000 inhabitants at that time. An earthquake swept the city away..into the sea. It basically fell down into the Mediterranean.
The church is really an architectonical beauty. During night time it is iluminated giving it a special presence. I pose my camera on the stairway wall and the exposure time was of 5 seconds.

ahhhh...still no D80.
...Good POV here Rolando. The composition is a little cluttered but not bad. I think a tighter crop may help a bit wwith that. It does have some good dramatic color to it, especially with the brighter light in the background. All in all a nice looking photo. It's interesting and original with a good note to explain.
Nice work.

Rolando,
were are your shots with the new camera? What is taking so long? I'm starting to get nevous! Are you preparing the grand openning sweeping our feet with some marvel?
Well, this shot is a quite interesting with chrisitan romantique architectural features and at the same time otoman elements blended into it. Is that a sign that these two religion can coexist?

An interesting close up and crop to have graphism, style and impact. The yellow light is interesting too.

hola, rolando. i love this capture of the architectural detail of the church. fantastic light and colors, well exposed. grat composition too. on a side note: ottomans did not appear "on the map" until 1299 so, saying Amalfi traded with them until the XIII is a tad inaccurate (ottomans were not around until the very last year of that century). if anything, in the XIII century Byzantines were still significant (in what is today's Turkey and Greece). Seljuk turks had fallen apart and Anatolia was a mixture of Ghazi and Greek (Byzantine) settlements.
cheers,
kristaps
