I took this photo very early on one beautiful Neapolitan morning. The Bay of Naples was all mine, but now I will share it with you.

i saw how you felt homesick upon reading your critique to mesutilgim's aphrodisias photo, now you prove it with a poetic neapolitan landscape. well, a few minutes ago i was watching a documentary about architectural wonders of rome, it didn't make me homesick but romesick actually :)
ps: your last ps to me is a proof for the true mediterranean warmbloodedness in you. i was really touched with your idea of taking the girl to the beaches. you are great!

Ciao Lisa ,
At first glance , the FG is not especially appealing . But in the whole composition , with the island at the strong point and the marvelous cloudy sky , it becomes an excellent picture .

You already proposed us some shots which should have been taken close to this point of view. And it is always interesting to see the variation in the different shots.
Here, what I like the most is the composition with the stone piers in foreground and the volcano lost in the mist. It is giving a great feeling of space.

It is nice to be awake so early and have the spectacle for ourself. So much beauty. I like the soft colors in shade of grey. ( I heard somewhere that there is 50 shades of grey)
Have a nice day

Hoping to get over to Italy soon and this is all the inspiration I need to motivate me. Good sharpness and a superb silhouette of distant Vesuvius. The fg breakwater adds layering and depth. A marvellous Neapolitan sunrise too! Tfs!

can see why your soul likes to reside here. It is a stunning vista and to be alone with it must be so spiritual. The light and pale tones are irresistible but the sky is just magnificent. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Have a great weekend - Brian.

Lisa, the wonderful clouds, and the mountain over the bay, are the highlights of this shot. Great soft color palette on what indeed looks like a beautiful morning. Thanks.
holmertz (43285) 2013-06-14 10:37
A marvellous "blue morning hour". Although the view across the bay is beautiful it's mainly the colours that attract me. And the nice shapes of the fluffy little clouds. I shouldn't forget to mention the fine light as well.
Noel_Byrne (26105) 2013-06-14 10:48
Be honest, can you control the weather? So many of your gallery shots have the most interesting skies and this is another amazing example. In a place as ancient as Italy, this photo is very apt, with the mountain and clouds, this looks like a scene in which I can easily imagine creatures and gods of old walking the earth. Beautiful, as always!
Have a great one
Royaldevon (31791) 2013-06-14 13:54
Ciao Cara Lisa,
Oh, such a beautiful morning. It sound like a good lead to this .
I remember such views, sitting in Sorrento and gazing across to Vesuvius. The sea and the sky are almost as one, as the morning light begins to separate them. The outline of Vesuvius is focal and strongly positioned for this purpose.
Have a lovely w/e,
ourania (34433) 2013-06-14 14:25
Ciao cara Lisa,
Complimenti e grazie! Spero che ti ci troverai presto!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,
carlo62 (36121) 2013-06-14 14:44
Ti auguro tante belle cose a te e famiglia.

Ciao cara Lisa,
Oh, how I wish you would add co-ordinates to your pictures so that we could see exactly from where you took them! It might be churlish on my part, but I have this idea that the mountain which we see in the distance on the right might be Vesuvius, a beautiful and proud yet so viciously dangerous feature on the landscape. So, I presume, we are looking northward.
The early morning light has not only lit the undersides of those fabulous scudding clouds and the landscape beautifully but yet I think, as they look down in their beauty, they sneer upon the venom of the latent Vesuvius.
A very fine and almost minimalist composition with glorious though subdued colours, lovely light and, as always, exquisite details and sharpness.
And, of course, a most interesting note! But how about some map references! :o)

Ciao Lisa, your title reminded me what I listened to very often lately
I see how you are missing your beloved Napoli Bay. With these colours and something similar to the pool, it looks almost like Coogee. Amazing fluffy clouds.
Here you also got up early :).
Abbraccio forte forte

Who wouldn't fall in love with a place like that, simply gorgeous. The sea with the distant volcano alone is a superb scene, add that impossible beautiful sky and what you got is a shot of Paradise. Simply superb.
have a good weekend

Endless love you have to this location, Lisa, very notable through your describtion, and especially when red in Italiano...
The Vesuvio is dominating the wonderful scenery, through the clouds and calm sea's.
Have a great sunday afternoon,

at first the title attract my attention, I remember a song with this word tornero repeated quite often. Very melancholic song. I had absolutely no idea what the singer has in mind. Now I just simply put it in Google Translate and I already know.
Beautiful view. Such a simple and yet very impressive composition. Nice to include some of the foreground too. Sky was fabulous the clouds with a very distinct shapes. The atmosphere very well captured by you.
I can imagine why people love this place and why would someone want to miss it. At least you are torn between two places which are both beautiful. Other people are less lucky :(
Thanks for sharing your feelings with us,
krzychu30 (15510) 2013-06-16 4:32
beautiful, tranquil moment just for you...and now also for us.Very nostalgic-not only from your note we can feel your longing for Italy and Naples.
And concerning the scene-sometimes it´s really worth to get up so early and to enjoy such delightful moments only for yourself.
Wish You all the best in the coming week
photoray (12968) 2013-06-16 7:58
Beautiful Naples water view from the jetty foreground, the expansive calm varying blue toned ocean, distant volcano, and the dramatic sunset cloud layers.
The only thing missing is Sophia Loren.
Ironically I was watching this morning a John Turturro flick about the historical and current Naples music scene - "Passione".
Keep up the fine artworks,
PS: The Naughty Ministrels is the band's real name. And I cannot play a musical instrument but certainly participating in a Renaissance Faire is fun. I dressed as a pirate and was offered to "walk the Plank" which I refused...

Very beautiful picture with special regards to the chosen pov, composition, colors and management of light!
I was fortunate to see that myself back in 1999 when I visited some places in Italy for several days!
The Vesuvius was a volcano I always wanted to see and it's impressive even from that point of view!
TFS - congrats,
macjake (58862) 2013-06-16 23:33
always exciting to see a new pic from you :)
those Grad Filters really come in handy don't they, I guess I should get some!!
and yes, you're heart is always in Naples - not to worry Lisa, as I'm sure you'll get there again very soon in the not too distant future.
this is a fine example of a horizontally layered shot.
peaceful, tranquil, makes me want to be here aswell.
beautiful scenery isn't it!
enjoy your day
