Our TE friend Lisa (delpeoples) made sure to advise us when we visited Naples, that we take the time out to grab the ferry and hop on over to the small town of Procida.
I'm glad we listened to Lisa!
Procida was certainly one of the highlights on the entire trip. Its amazing how such a small place could have so much to see and so much to experience.
This area in the photo was by far my favorite location on the island. Lots of colorful architecture, lots of colorful boats, lots of charm.
The funny thing is we were looking for this marina but couldn't find it, and just when we were about to give up all hope we walked straight into it.
One of the local restaurant owners was trying REAL hard to get us to sit at his restaurant table. In the end we didn't because we had to head back to catch the ferry. The poor man was so disappointed, and even a little pissed off! He was giving us the Devil's eye for quite some time as we walked away. I shouldn't have kept looking back lol
Anyways, i hope you enjoy this colorful marina as much as we did.

PS : It is fantatstic to see you've visited so many different highlights during your trip in Europe . With so long distances between them . But it seems to be a usual thing when you live in a coubtry like Canada , USA , Australia ...

Hi Craig, I am sure that Lisa will be delighted you visited her beloved place. Fantastic composition here with stunning sharpness and colours. We can look at the picture and slowly enjoy so many beautiful details. Quite amazing. Nice fortress or castle far away, but also lovely view of the busy fishermen's duties.
Fantastic place. I would like to go to Italy once more and so many places on the map that want to be visited. it is another one of them.

It is more than a beautiful location, with the charm of pastel buildings leading ever upwards to a dome, a headland and a wonderful sky; it is a mood of calm, of tranquil leisure time.
The composition is great.
The water and the boats make up just the right fraction of the scene.
It must pluck at your heart strings to return!
It is very, very appealing.
Have a great day,

Lisa was right, this is really a delightful spot as we can see from this beautifully presented composition. I like the point of view and the wonderful long perspective looking toward the focal point offered by the dome of the church. A perfectly illuminated image with superb colours and clarity.

Great photo, but where is the airplane? :-)
You have to admit that nice little fishing boats, colorful houses, outdoor restaurants, a hilltop fortress - and people - are more interesting than noisy machines. All right?

It certainly looks a delightful spot: and apparently not drowned by tourist tat. The restaurant owner was probably so desparate for your custom as you were the first strangers he'd seen that day. Maybe. It certainly looks as though it's still a working harbour, even down to the paint splodges on the near wall. Lovely place, lovely photograph.

Belle soirée a toi

I like very much how you made a scene so rich in information and details look so neat. Depth and clarity are superb and it feels like we can walk through this scenery or that we have already done it. It's a very lovely and interesting place and, although we can see few people at the moment, it feels that busy and vibrant daily life takes place there. You moderated the strong sunshine in an excellent way and the colours are brilliant. The sky is a great complement to this dynamic setting. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
Noel_Byrne (32084) 2014-08-14 10:49
Haha, I had to laugh at the idea of your last memory being getting stink eye from an angry local but glad to see it didn't impact on you capturing the mood and color of this place, the combination of bright pastels and grey castle is brilliant, while the sky above is an excellent compliment with its wispy lines and puffy clouds. Very fine 3D feeling to the result too, I feel like I could step inside this. I'd be afraid though, I don't need to get the devils eye from the Gary restaurateur :)

Beautiful picture of that marina. I like these colorful buildings on the left. They are different from the buildings on the right. Superb blue sky. The fishermen at work add life to your picture. Very well done. TFS.
Have a nice day.

Hi Craig, very good view of this beautiful scene of daily life in the beautiful harbor and a beautiful background, nicely captured by a great pov in this great and beautiful photography. A beautiful and interesting image with good sharpness, depth, light and beautiful color. Very good and nice job perfectly done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this interesting work.
Good afternoon and happy weekend.
Warm greetings from southern Spain.

A good title, that matches one of the things that make the photo very attractive. Others are the POV and compo and the clarity. Beautiful Mediterranean atmosphere!
Regards, TFS, José.

I regret I haven't visited this island, I only catched a glimpse of it on the boat from Naples to Ischia.
The town's waterfront looks amazing and you present it well with its buildings in their beautiful soft tones. On the background we find an impressive castle on the cliffs, right under that particularly beautiful sky.
With the boats, the fishing nets and the terraces of the restaurants you provide the picture with an intesting foreground.
Best regards, Paul

Back on earth after aircraft-pictures. This is a lovely picturesque photo. Looking at the early autumn outside I wished I could be there.
Graal (103034) 2014-08-18 3:18
yes, colors are pretty. Place, too. I like the calm mood and pattern of clouds also. Good photo-job.
Have a nice new week.

What a pity you seem to have "rubbed up" that restaurant owner a bit - perhaps that's all the excuse you need to go back to this wonderful place again, spend some more time there and enjoy a meal at his restaurant too. I'll bet that the grub would be pretty good there too.
I'm always amazed (and more than a bit jealous too!) how you manage to get such deep blue skies in your photographs. I can't imagine that you used a polarising filter for this one because polarising filters on ultra-wide usually end up causing patchiness in their effect on skies. But well done you.
The photograph is delightfully composed and there's so much to look at and examine too - from the fisherman on his boat with the ancient buildings on the hilltop behind to the brightly lit seafront buildings on the left. The light and colours are amazing as also is the sharpness - at least when viewed at its "proper" size.
Just a pity that you had to rush away from this place - I imagine I could spend hours here playing around with my camera - not to mention filling my belly with some gorgeous Italian seafood.

scatto magnifico, luce e colori fantastici.

It seems a really fantastic place and your pohto is excellent! I like this port with the boats and fishermen in foreground. I can see a very interesting yellow church and what seems to be a huge fort. There seems to be really a lot to discover. I bet the old city really deserves a good visit!
Colours are excellent!
ChrisJ (116058) 2014-08-20 1:01
I will have to add this place to my bucket list next time I am in the Naples area. The yellow cupola on the horizon contrasts well against the blue sky. Good sharpness and well composed. Nice fg reflections in the sea and the men on the small fishing boats animate the scene. The bg castle adds interest. The outdoor dining area with people at left balances the composition. Tfs!
ikeharel (73539) 2014-08-20 3:45
Pink and yellow in mild texture, is Italia's typical houses painting, as I saw in many places, for example in Vernazza.
The POV chosen show beautiful waterfront promenade, fun to walk along, boats anchored, cafe's with tourists, a fort prominently on high terrain as BG, and stunning blue sky above.
Charming and superbly applied.
*** To answer your Q's: Yes, we have 300 sunny days every year, usually no rain at all from May till early October - but Jerusalem has a special glow(really).
jcpix (13930) 2014-08-20 17:02
I missed this one, so I have to backtrack just a bit.:)
We have plenty of similar instances throughout the States, and I'm guessing Canada too, but is it just me...or do they seem to be more aggressive in Europe when they're vying for your attention to come and eat at a restaurant? I've been given that same crooked eye many a time when I haven't stopped for a "tourist trap" meal. Of course, I tend to stand out as a tourist, so I'm an easy target. lol
Awesome display of this tiny village, glad you "stumbled" on this marina to get this shot, it's quite picturesque, to say the least! As you mention, full of lovely pastel colors and small town charm. That wide angle once again works tremendously well, the perspective has an ever-so-slight pinch which pulls me right into the center...not at all harsh, just perfectly suited for this kind of composition. And great too that you have a local fisherman working in his boat. Colors, clarity and that Italian allure...it's all here under a sunny sky. Beauty! Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take it easy.
asajernigan (21427) 2014-08-21 7:40
This is a well composed shot of this colorful port. The seawall and boats form a nice lead line for the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has fine sharpness and detail.
SWEETFREEDOM (24621) 2014-08-23 0:46
picturesque view, lovely colors and great sky.

Angshu (56760) 2014-08-27 2:17
The sky and clouds are absolutely brilliant...I know you love clouds and man, they are stunning here.
I like the way you composed with the town on the left and the sea on the right with the boats parked and our vision leading to the fort like structure in the far distance.
Just given the expanse of the frame, glad you can show us thanks to your ultra-wide lens.
Good notes to accompany this fine picture!
