House of Vetti - Priapus,
god of fertility - Pompeii, Italy

[Photo taken in June 2007, in Pompeii ruins]

In polytheistic religions and mythologies, a fertilitygod is a male deity who is responsible for ensuring human fertility. They are often known for the use of sexual suggestion, whether direct or through symbols.

Priapus from Pompeii ruins was a minor rustic fertility god, protector of livestock, fruit plants, gardens and male genitalia.
