ENGLISH: This is a view of Positano from high up in the mountains above it in a townlet called Nocelle. Nocelle in Napolitan means "hazelnut", "nocciola" in Italian. To the bottom right of the frame you can see the township of Positano looking north along the Amalfi Coast towards Sorrento, Vico Equense, Castellammare di Stabia and eventually Naples. This particular photo was taken from the Trattoria Santa Croce where I lunched that day with my Aunt Fiorenza ("Flo") and Uncle Gianni. To say the food was excellent would be an understatement, as was the service and the price of the meal. (The pasta with prawns & rucola - highly recommended).
In the WS I have included some of the meal, to make you hungry.

Ciao Lisu, mia cara amica.

What a dramatic shot of Positano, with the small boats appearing as bacteria in a petri dish. I've driven the Amalfi Coast several times, but now I leave the driving to native drivers who have made it to adulthood. It is too beautiful to avoid distraction. I hope to be there again on August 15, whille giving lectures on a working vacation. The wide angle lens has helped produce a spectacular view.
This time I hope to make it to Nocciola. And your workshop has produced the desired result. I feel very hungry.

A spectacular panorama brought in beautiful darker colours. Well composed too.
And bon appétit...

Marvellous view of this superb coastline, with the mountains coming right down to the sea, and the line of them becoming hazier towards the top of the photo. The viewpoint is amazing, so high up looking almost straight down on to the tiny boats. There's a lovely light illuminating the closely tiered houses and that crescent moon of a beach. Positano looks a place I must visit one day; I haven't been to that coast. And thanks for the food pictures, too. As if the location and setting were not enough, there's the cuisine!

Great shot. Great framing. Wow so high up. Verticles worked well here (I was scared to get too close to the edge). What a rugged coast line. MMmmmm food :)) Thanks for the note - I want to go there.

Food and Landscapes, two of my favourites. When they combine perfectly, the world seems to be a better place.
I'm not sure I would like to live in Positano (probably could'nt afford it too...) but the view must be magnificent, and you captured it very well.
Note very informative, and a "mouth watering" workshop.

Hello Lisa! A spectacular coastline and what a place to eat some pasta and they even taste double better with views like this one. This looks really from high up, the boats seem very small, a little scary and you hope that everything holds :))) Your pasta dish sounds delicious, I only learned some years ago that rucola also goes with warm dishes. So so good. Great catch with a wonderful view ... Barbara.

A fantastic view to go with a delicious lunch by the look and sound of it. Magnificent downwards point of view along this beautiful coastline. The sombre tones make for a particular mood. Wonderful depth to the image.

composition is really great, love the scampi with pasta..i mean the mix
of mountains and sea with the houses built on the cliffs and the "tiny"
boats on the water. well done & gone to the refrigerator, thor.

The lighting looks a bit tricky - but the successive bays and headlands receed convincingly into the haze.
It's a landscape with which I am not familiar, and I'm impressed by the grand scale, and by curiosity as to how such seemingly precarious cliffs became so densly populated.

Wow, this is a view! Simply spectacular. And the food, well it is right now breakfast time and I must go for the usual toast and coffee.

Ciao cara. You are most cruel- not only are you making us envious of this experience of yours where the eye was dazzled by such beauty, but you are licking your chops about a Mediterranean meal you relished! Sei molto cativa. I am glad for you that you had a great time. I hope this area is spared the earthquakes as the town is perched most precariously.La luce e molto piacevole.Ciao. Klaudio.

Impressive coastline from a region I'm not at all familiar with. I like this dark blue exposure. Small boats and buildings on steep cliffs give a good idea how high this shot was taken. Vertical framing fits well.

Have a nice day

What a beautiful shot! I love the POV and the depth of this one very much. Great light, beautiful colours and I like how the landscape disappears in the distance! Great work!

That`s quite a view, and I wouldnt wonder if the food was more expensive than usually. The light is a bit dim, but I guess it was taken late in the day. Otherwise a breathtaking view of the harbour and town beneath.
hardyuno (4650) 2009-08-07 6:32
and what a view, spectacular is to less. I like the Amalfitana, we've been there last time two years ago. One week's stopover on our way to Sicily. And i love the Italian food, and with such a view it must be a great pleasure.
Well seen and well done

la superbe carte postale qui donne le vertige, d'une des régions les plus chaudes (vlacaniquement) du globe.
On se fait une idée exacte de la hauteur à laquelle tu étais installée pour prendre la photo.
