This is one of Naples' busiest hubs, the Piazza Triete e Trento. It is situated next to my favourite piazza in all of Italy, the Piazza del Plebiscito, at the convergence of Via Chiaia, Toledo and San Carlo. In the background you can see the Galleria Umberto, the internal dome of which I have previously uploaded many photos. On the far right of the frame is the Teatro San Carlo. I took this photo standing outside the Gambrinus Caffé.
This is a view of the Galleria Umberto from the inside: Core Nnapulitan

Ciao cara Lisa,
Lavoro eccezionale, complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,

What a superb demonstration of monochrome and contrast to capture and convey architectural detail! Your chosen POV gives great effect to the curved facade just right of center. The low-angle sunlight (morning, as you are exiting a cafe?) can be both friend and foe, no? It adds great definition to the architectural details, but I can also imagine that the swath of shadow on the street, from the left into the middle of the frame, may have been a challenge in processing. I love the contextual cues -- the scooter, the people, and (for better or worse, I'm a "car guy") the cars.
Good fotos show us places. Great fotos take us there. I can smell the coffee... :-)

lovely monochrome shot of this Naples Piazza. Full of all things Italian and wonderfully textured and detailed architectural elegance. Like it a lot.

Ciao Cara Lisa,
This is a very busy place. I like how you have captured its sense of activity and its vibrance! Fine lead lines and excellent sharp details are further pluses.
A fine b&w shot!
My warm regards,
ikeharel (61415) 2013-07-09 9:17
The chosen B&W is making justice to the scene, very agreeable due to the strong daylight, Lisa.
details well enhanced, gave a beautiful texture of the archi.-details on the piazza.
Well collected the movement on the cars, and lovely with the people sit and enjoy the piazza action.

Interesting the motor scooter appears to be enjoying the plazza scenery also. I am especially attracted to the architecture a blending of different classical styles, and would love to venture inside. And the 'feel' is much older by your monochrome view.
PS: For my moon shot I used the highest magnification on my 70-200 mm zoom lens with a 2x teleconverter. Then cropping the final frame, increases the moon's size also.

Hi dear Lisa,
Very beautiful snapshot of architecture and daily life scene in B&W color. Fantastic capture and great management of light, sharpness, clarity, POV. Perfectly well done.

Hello dear Lisa - This really deserves to be seen full screen as the fine detailing would become all the more visible thus. Wonderful monochrome, I presume you used Silver Efex, I now have a copy and have begun to see what a powerful tool it can be. Here you have such a good grey scale and a shot packed with texture, the architecture is sensitively rendered. Of course the original shot is well composed with the spacious FG peppered with both pedestrians and vehicles forming a subtle inverted 'V' shape directing the viewer to the buildings in the rear. Nicely done! Warm regards Rosemary

beautiful view of the Neapolitan street life. I like the effect which you have achieved with the B&W conversion. It feels like an old photo except for the modern cars. The light was great with long shades. Lovely atmosphere.
I have to go there someday. I guess we stick to the Europe anyway for several years now with the small baby so we may have a chance to go there.

Your black and white treatment here is absolutely perfect for this scene! This looks so iconic and typically Italian and is a really magical shot. I have great appreciation for the fine archi
Texture as well as the buzz of daily life. The couple sitting on the lower right look very pleased with themselves, I can see why. Even in B&w the weather looks glorious.
Best wishes from sunny Ireland (30 degrees yesterday!!)

what a scene this is eh!?
I love how the buildings just pop! its almost like going through one of those pop-up-books LOL
The only thing i'm disappointed about is I was hoping to see more classic cars, beat-up junkers - just to give it even MORE of a classic look, but thats being too hopeful I suppose :)
Its easy to see why you Love Naples as much as you do.
Hope you get to re-visit this place again soon :)
great monochrome shot with the architecture and activity

Excellent town monochrome snapshot in superb light and clarity. Brilliant work indeed. Greetings, Miro.

Complimenti e grazie!

I can't decide if it's the back & white treatment, the composition, or the comment suggested from Russ...but I'll echo that sentiment...this image takes us there! I get the sensation of standing right in the street, as if I were the one looking through the lens at this scene...what a wonderful job conveying the locale and its atmosphere!
Unfortunately I've never been to Naples, but from what I understand, you'd better have your head on a swivel to take a shot like this...the traffic is apparently relentless...one step the wrong direction and you might pull back a stump!? Even without color, I get the feeling of a warm glow to the setting here...the buildings basking in a yellowish/golden hue. Even with that, it still has a gritty appeal about it...a nice mixture of elements. Beauty shot! Have a great day.

I love your choice of using black and white for this urban sight. I find it so much eye-catching. You show us so many things in this picture : traffic, people taking their time, terraces of cafes and the architectural beauty of this town.

A nice shot, really good in b&w! Seems a really beautiful square, with very interesting architecture. The cars passing and the people around add much life to the place.
