Photographer's Note
ENGLISH: This is the Gran Caffe di Napoli, known to locals as Bar Spagnuolo, situated on Via Mazzini in Castellammare di Stabia. It's one of the main meeting places for Stabiesi, especially for the oldies and is a favourite of my father. It was originally owned by Don Rodolfo Spagnuolo, a true gentleman, "un vero signore", who sadly is no longer with us.

Hi Lisa
a wonderfully retro shot this, made all the more so by the use of B&W. Almost sepia on my screen but it looks so arty and beautiful. A great composition and presentation that is both original and creative. Like it!

Ciao Lisa,
We have "Caffe Napoli" everywhere in Québec. Every town where a Italian family immigrate in the fifty's has it's own. They have the perfect coffee machines.
I like the vintage look of your picture.
Have a nice day

Hi Lisa,
the askewed angel you chosen gave extra depth olong the facade, and no mistake about the subject.
B&W added ancient texture to the place already inoprative.

Ike

Gidday Lisa,
this is really well seen, and if I may say so, a very artistic shot. I would be not at all surprised to see this hanging in a frame in any public space. the black and white works beautifully well, and the leading lines of teh hedge, the path and the building make a really nice triple whammy.
Really nice work, I bet if you frame this and put in a shop, you would sell lots of copies. I would. Can I get a signed copy? :)
Cheers
Noel

Ciao Lisa,

Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,
Ourania

Hello Lisa,
judging by your note the place means a lot to you and your family-certainly a lot of wonderful memories for you. This can be also deduced from the way you proceed the image.Your excellent B&W treatment and retro look of it you were able to create makes we feel as we had stepped back in time and remembered the good old days we spent there.
Beautiful and atmospheric composition.
Have a good day

Super PP work on this B&W shot Lisa. I really like the way the textures and grain pop out and I agree with Noel, it would look great printed and framed. The façade of the cafe is fascinating; are the globes lights? and what era is the design? It look a bit Art Deco(ish) on the doors. A fine shot and a pleasure to see. Hope all is well with you and yours. Rosemary

Ciao Lisa,
Genuine Italian detail. I love those old facades and the smell of Mediterranean food. Well taken detail.

Great black and white of what must be a great place. It seems very stylish to me. The diagonal angle was very well chosen, with a great amount of plants working as a frame. Well done, regards!

A great choice for a B&W image, Lisa! It increases the worn sense of the facade, while also providing really nice contrast in FG. A different kind of postcard shot here, full of nostalgia and I'm sure evokes fond memories in you. I really appreciate your frequent shots inspired by your family's rich history - especially when it brings you to such beautiful spots as this!

Howdy Napolilisa,
I am attracted to the exterior art deco panels, and brush foreground, in monochrome like an early 20th century film capture.
Darn, I will miss the America's Cup racing challenges in Napoli this April. At least I plan on being at the races in Frisco Bay this August.
Enjoy the end of summer, etc. etc.,
Cheers,
Calray

Ciao Lisa,
A superb b&w image from Naples with excellent sharpness a nd a good tonal range. Well managed perspective with superb graphism and lead in lines to the vanishing point at left. Nice repetition of the unusual doors. Tfs!

Hi Lisa
another cool shot in your gallery, it looks like you've taken this in the 1940's or something - there's even the old newspaper style grit and feel to it.
It looks all boarded up...is that just me or is it the design.
this would be a cool place to visit, and I bet its not in any tour guide book.
PS
Only 5 or 6 more days until we leave for Iceland :)
cheers
craig
