Photographer’s Note

SYMPHONY OF COLORS

This is a simple snapshot of a fruit seller's cart of fruits and nuts, and the location is one of the piers serving the hydrofoils running between the Italian mainland and the Island of Capri. The expression, "A symphony of colors," is the way the great painter Vincent van Gogh, in a letter to his brother Théo, described the works of French landscape artist Jules Dupré (1811-1889). Van Gogh's words are also appropriate in describing the still life depicted here.

Regarding Italy's magic Isle of Capri, I had written about it more extensively in a posting in August of last year, King Farouk's Last Abode.

I like the tight framing but a Ws with a wide angle would be nice :)

Hi, Bulent -

Somehow the clutter works here! I think it's because the elements are all (or almost all) in the frame, and the diagonal streamers tie the picture together. Also, none of the colors dominates.

you pardon the precisation to me, that I only make because I know that you are a person of great culture: Capri island is situated in Campania, province of Naples.
Your photo is much pretty and it is similar to my photo "open-air market" captured in Siracusa, in Sicily.

The title is 100% appropriate for this image. I don't think there is a colour missing. The streamers are an excellent touch to add diagonals. An ordinary scene made special and interesting.

This, I think, should be a very good example of how beautiful a greengrocer shop could be reflected in a picture. This photograph of yours is awesome again but I really loved the previous ones as well. I think there's a fine line between symphony and cacophony :) but here the green colour seems to unite the scene, I like it a lot. may be the photo could do with slight level and curves adjustment, it seems there's still that slight gray digital fog present, but may be it's just my monitor :) in any case, rich photo, I particularly like the pink/orange accents in the foreground. this is very well seen and presented, my compliments.
