This is the busy but beautiful harbor at the Isle of Capri just off the Amalfi Coast on the mainland south of Naples. It can be reached by boat from both the towns of Amalfi and Sorrento. I did take a tour around the island but did not go inside the Blue Grotto. The entrance is narrow and you have to swim in with your camera. Saltwater and expensive cameras do not mix.

This is a lovely shot and truly represents the atmosphere of relaxation in a very up-market environment.
The lead lines are strong, you have captured lovely tones on the water and we are satisfied by having an interesting focal area.
It is a while since we were here. I was really looking forward to the trip but, inadvertently chose a day which was an Italian bank holiday and everyone in the region seemed to have decided to visit Capri! The queues were immense!
Have a lovely day,

The waterfront had not chanmged since my visit there on 5/1980, except for more modern yachts and their number.
A fine shot of the small marina, with the mighty rock mountain as a back-decor to the scene.
Fine clear shot, shining white houses and boats, all culminate to a wonderful photo of a wonderful place.

Bonjour, cher Chris,
Voilà une bien belle image qui met un peu de bonheur dans cette période grise.
De plus, le lieu marin est joliment présenté.
Un grand merci pour cette bouffée de plaisir.

I remember visiting here very many years on a dull drizzly day and have a few rather disreputable slides to prove it. The peerless blue sky shows that you had much better luck than me weather wise. It makes a fine backdrop for the town laid out below and the lines of moored boats, which help draw the viewer into the scene. The image is well exposed and has good colours and sharpness.

enticing and captivating shot of Capri this. It looks so beautiful from this excellent POV with inviting lines and that laid back atmosphere. Wonderful!
I have trouble swimming full stop - yet alone trying to keep my camera dry!!
Regards - B.

The length of the harbour is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details, the colors of the mountain, of the boats and of the buildings. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Le regard suit naturellement la berge dans l'image, ce qui lui donne beaucoup de profondeur. Les bateaux sont joliment alignés en bon ordre et apportent une belle palette de couleurs. La montagne en arrière plan est superbe.

Hello Chris. I don't know much about Capri except that it's famous and there is a "grotto", so I find it interesting to see some of it. Well chosen point of view that provides several converging lines toward the center and so lead the eye into the photo. Nicely descriptive and pleasing summery atmosphere. Very good. Regards, Claude.

I like the strong and vivid colours of this photo and the good depth along the green water towards the white houses and the large cliff. The good sharpness makes the study of the many details very enjoyable.

Bonne profondeur donner par la berge menant le regard vers cette énorme montagne rocheuses et vertes, belle vue du port, sa lumière et ces couleurs

We did the same route (quite common) with the diference that I stayed more time in each place, here I spent two nghts and went to Anacapri in a local bus and up till Villa Tiberius (exausting)
Of course that you did a good composition, boats on the left and port (houses)on the right creating a panoramic with great sharpnees to admire the transparent waters
Better that a postcard

The open water surface between the row of boats and the quay leads our eyes to the white town with the impressive rock behind it on which we also find several constructions.
A wonderful bright Mediterranean sight in splendid colours and an excellent composition.
Best regards, Paul

Pity you couldn't go to famous grotto. Haha, if I can't go somewhere with camera I often do not go at all. Fantastic view in full sun. Warm regards Malgo

I knew this was Capri even in thumbnail. There is something unmistakable about that mountain, the light and the colours. I have a photo of almost this exact POV and am glad you like the island. Next time you go, I recommend a swim (or a boat ride) into the Grotto. Diving in to that impossibly blue water was one of the unforgettable moments in my Italian Journey. Excellent light management, excellent composition and wonderful colours.
Thanks for sharing, have a great day

When I was a child, Ford Capri (the European model) was popular and I often imagined myself driving one. Nice to see the island after which it was named.
Great POV! BTW, that is why I always take my Nikon AW 100 with me on trips, along with my more expensive camera. The AW 100 does not mind getting wet.
