Quinta foto del tema “Mi mancheranno…!”

Questa è la volta del castello di Monteforte Irpino, paese in cui vivo da 12 anni.

Monteforte Irpino sorge a circa 600 mt. di altezza s.l.m. ed è attraversato dal torrente Fenestrelle. Il suo territorio è caratterizzato dalla presenza di numerosi boschi, sorgenti e corsi d'acqua.
Monteforte sorge ai piedi del suo castello e se ne hanno tracce fin dal 891.

Questo Castello mi mancherà tutte le volte che andrò in mountain bike perché era una tappa obbligata per arrivarvi in cima e riposarmi al fresco degli alberi che lo circondano. Poi una bella bevuta di acqua di sorgente e via per la strada del ritorno.

Il rudere dell'imprendibile fortezza medievale, costruita in posizione strategica già in epoca longobarda è situato sul colle di S. Martino, circondato da una pineta recintata e attrezzata.
Nel periodo angioino fu dei principi di Montfort e vi dimorò quel Guido che nel 1270 nella Chiesa del Gesù di Viterbo assassinò Enrico di Cornovaglia, figlio di re Riccardo d'Inghilterra.
Ampliata dagli angioini e dagli aragonesi, si ammirano ancora parte delle murature perimetrali in pietrame, una torre a pianta circolare ed un artistico camino.

This is time of the castle of Monteforte Irpino, country in which I live from 12 years.

Monteforte Irpino rises to approximately 600 on s.l. and it is crossed from the Fenestrelle torrent. Its territory is characterized from the presence of numerous forests, sources and course of water. Monteforte rises to the feet of its castle and since 891 they keep traces.

I’ll miss this Castle every time that I will go in mountain bike because was an obliged stage in order to arrive in top and to rest me to the coolness of the trees that encircle it. Then a rich beautiful water drink of source and go! for the road of the return.

Ruins of the unconquerable medieval fortress, constructed in strategic position already in longobard age is situated on the hill of St. Martino, encircled from penned pine forest and equipped.
In the angioin period it belonged of the Princes of Montfort and there it dwelled that Guido that in 1270 in the Church of the Jesus of Viterbo assassinated Enrico di Cornovaglia, son of king Richard of England. Widened from the Angioins and the Aragoneses, part of perimeter walls in rock, one tower to circular plant and an artistic walk still admire.
