Photographer’s Note

The "Serra di Crispo" (2053 m) is one of the most important summits in the group of Mount Pollino in the Pollino National Park. The summit of this mountain can be reached in a 3-hour walk, going uphill for about 500/600 meters. You reach a magical place, with a large presence of the Loricato Pine (pinus leucodemis), a massive conifer that only grows on the steep cliffs of these mountains and in the near Balkan peninsula. When one of these pines dies, the bark becomes detached, revealing an imposing and very white skeleton, which remains there for decades. If you are in the area, the place is certainly worth a visit. Happy hiking.
