Craco is a small village in the state of Matera. Originally named Graculum, the ancient village was founded in the early middle-age. The houses are castled around the central tower.
In 1963, due to a big slope, the town (that had more than 2000 inhabitants) was evacuated, and the citizens moved to the substant valley, founding Craco Peschiera.
In the last years, this abandoned village has been used as a background for some movies. Here were made some scenes of Mel Gibson's "The Passion" too. |

Good clear shot w/ exellecent lighting, colours and sharpness. Nice positioning of the town, which is a very interesting subject matter. Cheers

What a beautiful scene. The POV is very well chosen. Great capture.

Hi Andrea,
Pleasant view of this ghost town! I'm only wondering why you took such a shallow depth of focus?! With 1/250 you could easily have gone for f/11 - f/13, without getting any motion blur of yourself or leaves on trees.
I would perhaps have gone for a greater depth of focus and clone stamped the electricity pole at the right side of the village. But next to that, a nice shot!
Greetings,
Dennis
Hi Andrea,
There is a beautiful light here, and the POV is good, the composition as well (maybe I would have chosen to crop the right side with the white pillar or just to remove it). I really like how you stand below in the middle of the vegetation, with the soft light and the dark sky, it looks more dramatic.
Regards,
Marine
