Photographer’s Note
Matera's sassi are rock-hewn dwellings piled chaotically one atop another, strewn across the sides of a steep ravine. They date from Paleolithic times, when they were truly cave homes. Across time, the grottoes were adapted as houses only slightly more modern with their exterior wall closed off. A World Hertitage Site. Photo has been cropped, levels adjusted and sharpened slightly.

I never heard about this fantastic place, thanks for publish. At first sight it shows a total disarray, but we know that under every disarray there is the order.

Hi Michael,
I've always been extremely fascinated by this place. Very good POV and light. I don't know if it's my impression but it seems that tones are too cold.
Well done
Gio
