Photographer’s Note

Dear TE friends,

this shot closes the little "report" on the situation after 2002 earthquake.
The images didn't obtain a large success, anyway I already supposed when I decided to create this theme but in my opinion it was important to document this unknown situation.
I chose to close with this image of one of the few restored homes (finished just that day) enlighted by a pure southern sunlight symbol of hope.
Unfortunately this is still a rare example, because this village, like most of the southern ones, was already left by thousands of inhabitants in XX century due to emigration to northern Italy and foreign richer countries.
Thus, most of the homes were already empty when the earthquake came and probably no one will be interested in fixing them.

Ciao Giorgio,
Penso che hai avuto ragione di fare questo servizio. Ci sono state di molto belle foto, ed io ha amato avere delle notizie di questa cittadina di cui tutte le televisioni ci hanno parlato per giorni e poi che è sparito totalmente della notizia. Amo la tua ultima nota che illustra bene le difficoltà e le speranze del Mezzogiorno.
E, penso che la prossima volta che andrò nella provincia di Foggia, proverò a fare una piccola svolta per Casalnuovo Monterotaro.

I like a lot this view! It's a difficult situation with strong light contrasts and you were very fine on that. I can see the details even on the background wall. Good choice for the vertical framing. Well done!

Apprezzo la tua documentazione visiva di questa tragedia italiana. Scelta giornalistica coraggiosa, che mette da parte l'esercizio dell'estetica per raccontare fatti scomodi.
