Wishes of a nice Summer to everybody!

Canon EOS400D (automatic setting) taken about 11:30 AM – the sun was in and out behind heavy clouds. It was unusually dark, but puctuated by sunlight sporadically.

Ciao Stella,senza dubbio la piu' bella foto di questa giornata di TE,sono strabiliato da questa atmosfera da ciclone caraibico colta cosi' alla perfezione...penso che non si sarebbe davvero potuto fare di meglio,sei stata fortunata a vivere questa situazione e brava nel coglierla con una classe stratosferica.Complimentissimi e buon weekend,LUCIANO

Mare e cielo magnifici, colti nel momento magico in cui il sole trapela fra nuvole minacciose.
Ottima composizione, apparentamente semplice ma magnificamente equilibrata nei suoi elementi (barca sulla destra, nuvole sulla sinistra).

Hello Stella,

Your note is superb with the inclusion of Lord Rayleigh's famous explanation for the color of the sky (and the sea). He was a superb mathematical physicist, who explained among others the mathematics of liquid drops, which was later applied to nuclear fission. In his own lifetime, he nominated himself for the Nobel Prize three times, and was not awarded the prize. Then in disgust, he gave up nominating himself, and won the prize. (There is evidently a bylaw that says people cannot nominate themselves). The colors are wonderful, and illustrative of his explanation for the phenomenon.

I've been at the beach in North Carolina this past week, and I have seen this sort of sea and sky in the Atlantic Ocean.

Your post reminds me that I forgot to include you in my Favorites when I joined TE -- an oversight that I will now remedy. "An Ocean to Learn" is one of my all-time favorite images.

The lone fishing vessels really adds wonderful scale to this simple but very interesting scene.
I love the calm turquoise sea that contrast so nicely with the silver blue sky.

I have not a lot to say for this "magic" picture.
Amazing water color gives a very impressive and a little bit frightening contrast with the dark, angry sky.
