Ostuni, for reasons that I hope this photograph makes clear, is often known as the La Cittŕ Bianca ("The White City"). The old town, perched on a hill overlooking the coastal plain, can be seen from miles around, and is considered one of Southern Italy's most stunning small towns. It is a gleaming white splash of sun-bleached streets and cobbled alleyways that is a pleasure to explore, especially when we were there, towards the end of the season, when it wasn't too hot and the tourist traffic had abated. Indeed I had to wait several minutes before I was rewarded with a passer-by. And a nice one too!

A lovely composition of this attractive narrow street with the typical white walls that characterize this city. I like your upward perspective here and the way you took advantage of this passing lady in a splendid manner. Her inclusion adds an interesting element of life. Great light management and exposure, allowing to appreciate the textures and details of the walls. Nice use of the vertical frame, too. The light and the colours are equally fine. Very attractive work.

This looks like a scene from a movie as the beautiful girl, looking mildly windswept comes swooping out from among the fine architecture. The walls have really cool textures too, the hints of red staining making them look even more interesting. The upwards point of view make the place seem somewhat imposing too, very nice.

Excellent perspective, Will, and yes, it's quite clear why the city has the nickname it does! As always, patience rewards the photographer, and as the traffic cleared this woman walked in to tie the shot together - a nice happenstance. Thanks.

beautiful composition showing a lovely view of the building. the depth provided by the POV is superb and the lady beneath the arches makes the setting lively. You managed what appears to be difficult scorching light beautifully and the textural details are brought out with clarity. the plant in the foreground acts as a very effective anchor.
thanks for sharing and have a nice new week.

Una bellezza italiana beautifully under the arch and the lantern with a good view of the small but attractive alley.
A splendid presentation of an Italian town of which we almost never see pictures here on TE.
Excellent in the vertical format.
Best regards, Paul

Good angle on these white wall, difficul for the exposure with this strong light but here it's well managed, good contrast with the blue sky and pleasant detail with the walking lady.

Nice shot, but the girl's pose is not exactly contribute to the beauty of photography. I would have pulled the trigger again!

A dominant white tazor sharp image and the typical Medditeranean atmosphere! I love your composition I am wondering looking deep into the narrow alley
letting the path guides me in. The aged enclosed buildings and their cracking details are just wonderful that speak volumes of a time gone by and you have done a wonderful work capturing it. Contrast to deep blue sky is mouth watering. Thks for sharing, Congrats

Hello Will - In a sense a continuation of a theme although a different location from your previous upload.
The bright light reflecting off the white walls and the strong shadows and the types of plants in the pot tell us plenty about the about the climate here. Hot sunny days and not too many people out in the sun, just one girl, (a tourist perhaps?) enjoying the characterful back alleys.
Summer holidays at season's end. perfect!

What an interesting note and what an interesting place too! It reminds me of a small town in Menorca, called Binibequer, where all the houses, shops and alleyways are painted brilliant white - a stunning place but quite difficult for photography on account of the strong contrasts.
You have composed this picture amazingly well with the archway and its attractive occupant perfectly placed in the frame. And you have coped with the harsh lighting very well too.
A very attractive photograph with lovely light, contrasts and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite detail and clarity.

A beautiful and intriguing city indeed. I've never been to Ostuni, so have vicariously enjoyed your travels though it. The vertical frame is well-chosen, as is the inclusion of the lady in the archway. I could be the fact that I've enjoyed a Prosecco or 3 tonight, but does the photo need a slight rotation of about 1-2 degrees?
Anyway, great shot.
