Photographer’s Note

The wind is where the waves come from, and is the ultimate deciding factor between a really great days surfing or a day of non surfing.

An Onshore Wind is the worst wind for surfing. The wind blows from out to sea and ensures that all the waves crumble and have no shape, making the waves un-surfable.

A Cross Shore is not desirable either, not giving shape to the waves.

An Offshore Wind is the best wind for surfing. It ensures that the waves rolling in are well formed and break cleanly. If you want quality waves then you want an offshore wind.

If you are going to go surfing then make sure you keep an eye on the weather as all we know how it rapidly changes lately.

An excellent action shot of these two surfers. The square frame works well and provides a strong composition. Good exposure and sharpness to nicely resolve the water droplets and give a good sense of movement.

Se i surfisti avessero avuto le mute di colori vivaci si sarebbero meglio stagliati sulle onde, ma l'attenzione si sarebbe concentrata troppo su di essi. Così invece è l'onda a rimanere protagonista della scena, che finisce per includere le figure degli sportivi, con un gran senso di movimento e di energia e la capacità di trasmettere la sensazione di essere presenti alla scena.

I like your action shot very much, and capturing two surfers astride the same crest makes it more interesting (than presenting a single surfer). The square — Carper — format isolates the action. A wise choice!

Bonjour, mon amie Stella,
Image très difficile à réaliser, je tire donc mon chapeau pour cette réalisation.
Les naïades sont joliment présentées à travers cette composition.
Le rouleau de la vague est bien mis en valeur avec cette écume environnante.

Questa non l'avevo ancora vista e devo dire che merita. Presa al momento giusto e con la giusta inquadratura. Ne so qualcosa io che ci ho provato alcune volte con risultati deludenti, o scattavo troppo presto o troppo tardi, oppure i surfisti posizionati male. Qui tutto è perfetto, onda (oltretutto quasi in diagonale), surfer e spazio intorno. Ottimo anche il formato quadrato. Complimenti,
