Photographer’s Note

This is my first anniversary post. I think during my time in TrekEarth, I met some very interesting and talented people and by the critics they made, I improved my skills in photography.

I still remember my first post in this amazing website, still one of my favourites, but ignorant as I was about PP at that time, the photo suffered from pixellation due to a bad scanning process.

The amount of things I have learnt (and still am) from members of TE community is immense and the people I have learnt from are too many to mention. But you all know who you are. I don’t want to name anyone because I’m afraid that I will miss someone out.

I thank all of you that have been helping me much with your critiques and, perhaps even more important, have given me the pleasure of your "company" for so many hours.

Felicitazioni per la ricorrenza (perchè la celebri sono in inglese?). La foto è molto bella, con questa tonalità dorata che è piu' luminosa del classico seppia. Il controluce riduce gli elementi a delle silouhettes, e non serve neppure un primissimo piano di qualcosa: ai miei occhi il vero soggetto della foto è l'orizzonte e il tema rappresentato è il movimento in quella direzione. This is a fantastic serie with the yaghts that you have created! Each and every one of them is great but this one is the most original and outstandin of them all, a great choice for the celebration! Hello Stella,

Congratulations on your first year anniversary. You bring more to the Trekearth Community than you take away from it, and I for one am very grateful. The composition in this image, with the strong diagonal structure created by the lines, is very attractive. There is a sense of the viewer being right there, or perhaps the image of the old actor Errol Flynn, swashbuckling sailor-actor who died when I was a teenager. In sepia the photograph works specially well, setting the scene in his times.

First of all dear Stella I want to wish that one day I will see your 1000th photo.
Your anniversary post is really an...anniversary photo.
A very special photo that gives me this exceptional feeling that I am on board traveling somewhere without any special destination and this magic moment of the sunset comes to reminds me for one more time how beautiful the life is and how lucky I am that I can enjoy these moments.

Happy Anniversary Stella. How appropriate that you chose a subject close to your heart for this image. The sepia toning was an unusual choice but it works very well creating extra atmosphere. The way you framed the image almost makes us feel we are with you on the boat. Well done

Your fine sailing composition is a worthy celebration of your anniversary. The focus on the rigging and foresail conveys perfectly the feeling of the foredeck while the sepia tones give the feeling of returning home after an exhilarating sail. Well Done!!
