Grandparents Day Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another image frequently seen along Brindisi coast is like this one:
grandparents who look after their grandchildren, teaching them how to throw pebbles in the sea making them rebound again and again and how to play with all the materials the sea, expecially after days of windy weather, has left on the shore.

There are a special kind of love that grandchildren have for their grandparents.

It is filled with respect for their wisdom
and accomplishments…
with gratitude for the values they give them
with delight in the stories of the family that they
remember and share…

It’s a special kind of love that’s built on a lifetime
of caring and giving.

It’s the kind of love that’s felt for them
today and always.

What a beautiful photo and a wonderful idea !
I think you are absolutely right . There is a special bond between grandparents and grandchildren .
Unfortunately, I have never known my own grandparents , but this evocative photo will remind me to be conscious about my role in my little grandson's life !

Hello Stella,

As an insufferable grandfather I find this shot immensely endearing. How fortunate for both of them. Growing up in Turkey, I had already learned English from a four-year-stay in London, amd my grandfather, the doctor, used to pay me to translate articles from English to Turkish. This was his scheme to help me preserve my English, and also to be infected with the science bug.

In Greece we say that the grand parents are twice parents.
Excellent shot with a big dose from sentiment.
Is obvious the love and the feeling of protection of the grandfather to the child.
The warm afternoon light makes stronger the warm sentiment atmosphere.
