XXII Brindisi - Kerkyra Regatta Photo

Photographer’s Note

Just started the XXII Brindisi - Kerkyra Regatta at 3.30 p.m..

An off-shore yacht race with the participation of more than 140 vessels from all over Europe. Organized by the Sailing Clubs of Kerkyra and Brindisi. A grand nautical celebration which every year is honoured by the presence of well-known lovers of aquatic sports, including journalists, artists and athletes. For the sea and sail lovers, the race, crossing the Otranto Channel, is particularly fascinating for the environmental and meteorological conditions variety. In fact, the 100 navigation miles start from a straight and low coast, with constant and generally strong wind, passing through the Otranto Channel, which always hides surprises, and finish near the high albanian coast and the first Ionian Greek islands, where the wind is often variable or absent. A relaxing and funny week-end in Corfu follows the race.

It's not a very good one, because it was very windy and I didn't have a tripod, but I hope you'll enjoy it, anyway. In the ws a panoramic view.

we face the same problems in sea photos. bad luck that bacground is always not sharpened or sky view is not neat. other than that it s a great photo

Ciao Stella, la composizione è bella ma il disturbo è un po' troppo forte, potresti provare a ripulirla un po' non ti faccio un ws perchè per queste cose sono un cane, però la composizione è bella e merita, ciao Silvio

Verry expressive photo!!! The triangulars sails
give a loncern scene under the grey sky.
The picture need a litle sharpnes.

Hello Stella,

Like little magnets polarized and parallel to each other, that is what sailing boats clustered together always remind me of. I have a similar shot that I might post one day. So these boats ply the magical waters of the Ionian, crossing the Otranto Channel. You are right about the difficulty of holding a camera steady in windy weather, which was my problme in the image I submitted from Mykonos. In reality, as I believe I mentioned, I had to stitch together vertically a couple of photos. Here I suspect you've had to crop quite a bit to focus on the boats.

WoW che spettacolo!!! Sai, questa regata parte da una città che io sto iniziando ad adorare e va a finire nella città che io considero come un paradiso, cioè Corfù. Complimenti

Si, forse come dici tu la qualità dell'immagine non eccelle; al tempo stesso però la composizione è eccellente e il micromosso da un aspetto "acquarellato" alla tua bella foto.
Quindi... brava!

Ciao Stella, as composition is great, is wonderful, I like it.
I like the light it comes here very good, OK it has much noise but it does not matter.

Hi Stella,
Beautiful scene.If you had a tripod the result could be better.Another thing is the focus.I think you shot with digital zoom which makes noisy the whole compo.
Anyway the subject is fine.

I like your photo !
It is different from most photos which show boats and white sails against a clear blue sky . Well that is beautiful too , but your photo radiates a very special atmosphere due to the greyish colours and special lighting !
