Church of Santa Maria in Platea
Built towards the end of the fourteenth century on the ruins of an older building, Santa Maria in Platea is located in the town's main square, Piazza Farnese. Even after its construction in 1395 was elected to Collegiate, which is home to a college of canons. The church took on even greater importance in 1764 when Campli is consecrated to the Immaculate Conception and the Virgin Mary was proclaimed Queen and Patroness of the town and its territory following an outbreak of typhus.
In the eighteenth century it underwent a major restructuring that radically transformed the look. The central part of the facade of the neoclassical style, is precisely the result of this operation, which took place in 1793 to be precise. The niche, which is located above the portal is decorated with a sculpture of the Madonna and Child, by probable Gagliardelli.
