Castelli landscape, a photo from Teramo, Abruzzo

Photographer's Note

Castelli is a hill town and comune in Teramo province in the Abruzzo region of eastern Italy. It is located in the natural park known as the "Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park". The hillside town lies within the Gran Sasso mountain beside Mount Camicia and on the eastern side of the Gran Sasso Massif. Castelli is famous for its ceramics which were collected by the nobility of Europe for centuries and which were at their pinnacle in the 16th century.
Today, Castelli is a favourite destination for tourists and art lovers; it hosts an art institute and ceramics museum.
Castelli's main church is San Donato. It holds a majolica altar-piece by Francesco Grue (1647) and a medieval silver cross of the Sulmona school.

E' davvero uno spettacolo vedere questo paesino incastrato dentro tanto verde.
Sono stato sul Gran Sasso insieme a Ludo, giorno 14 scorso.
Per poco, avremmo potuto incontrarci.

Amazing to see how fresh the green is this late in summer, where the village is nicely located in the forest...

there is one small and very charming detail, that makes this superb impression really attractive: it is the white cloud that adds some contrast to the blue sky and the greenery. The light is also very fascinating. TFS!
