The Skellig Experience

The Skellig Islands seen here 12km from the Ring of Kerry are spectacular pinnacles, which have magnetised viewers throughout all history – and beyond.

A wisp of cloud often adorning the peaks of these pinnacles creates a volcanic impression! But there is nothing volcanic about these Skelligs rocks; they are created of the same 350–million-year-old Devonian Sandstone that runs right through the backbone of Kerry - from the county’s south-western headlands to the shores of Killarney's lakes.

Wonderful composition and lights. Tfs.

Hi Stephen,

Wonderful!!! Just look at that light!! And look at those islands in the mist in the distance!! Really great work!
Love those misty clouds and the wonderful light in the foreground. Really, really nice!

Greetings,
Dennis

Hi Steve,
An almost unreal photo with that depth...like i can touch it, extreme 3D feeling inside. The view is awesome, you really know your pov to choose. Light in front and on the left wall is very good, brings a nice warm mood inside which suits the picture very well. Also that fog in the background enhance that mytical feeling which this picture has...very good work, i like it a lot.
Regards, Henk

I absolutely LOVE this pic...nice work Stephen!!

Hello, very nice photo. Good colours.
Have a nice day.
Adam

Hi Stephen
a nice view, with this falling pov!
interesting that even at this distance you manage this fine effect on the water.
regards,didier

Gorgeous colors and point of view ! I really love it.
However I think shutter speed is maybe too low and It will be better with a "normal" water texture. Anyway It's a very good picture (as usual !)

Yes, this is great. This what I am willing to try. Long exposures from a high pov. The foam game in the water is so good. Great light! I like what you did here very much.

Hi Stephen,

beautiful soft colours and great landscape, well composed!

Take care, Ivana

fantastic tones, the effect of the smooth waves thanks to the long exposure is great !
regards
jo

Hi Stephen, very nice and original picture!
I like the colours, long exposure and framing.
Well done!

Regards Jiri

Hi Stephen.
Long time no see.
I like this one a lot. The sea has an unusual soft look, that I think must have come from a long exposure made possible by the ND filter. I don't mind that blurry look from this distance. The land forms are sharp and beautifully lit. I love the islands looming out of the haze in the distance. What a vantage point!
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Stephen,
Great shot again ! The framing is very good and gives a nice DOF. The cliffs have wonderful colours and drive the look to these incredible Skellig Islands.

Olivier
