[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've been snooping around in my old pictures to see if I could find something worthwhile posting. Very difficult to be quite honest, because these are all pics from before having a digital cam and before having improved my knowledge due to all your helpful critiques.

I do not know the name of this castle anymore, nor in which county it had been taken (so I just filled something in in the state field which is probably wrong). If someone recognizes it, pls tell me. I think this image shows very well what I, as non-irish, see before my eyes when I think of Ireland (very nice country by the way).

This picture was taken with a disposable camera and I had to scan in the image which explains some inpurities in the image. I applied some dye to it to improve that desolate feeling.
I hope you like it; pls give me your comments so that I can improve my knowledge.

Hi hendrik .. though the picture is a bit dark i feel ir shows very well the Irish feel... well done.

the name of the castle I think is dunguaire which can be found near Kinvarra in county Galway (if i am correct). I have my own picture of this castle up here as well and might publish another shortly

Bravo hendrik

Hi Hendrik. There's a great atmosphere behind this shot, even if the technical characteristics are not absolutely perfect. The feeling is effectively typically Irish ! The diagonal formed by the foreground wall gives dynamism to the composition. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Hendrik,
I know exactly what you mean by: 'before having improved my knowledge'
I have so many old photos myself. I look at them now and think: If only I had known then what I know now!

The castle is called Dunguaire Castle and it's in Kinvarra, County Galway. Your view is quite different fromm most others that I know, so I almost didn't recogniise it. There is a really desolate feel to this in spite of the blue sky. The desaturated and grainy finish makes it look like an old hand-coloured postcard.

All the best,
Hauke
