[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The interior of the Victorian Wing of Kilmainham Jail in Dublin. This notorious prison held many of the leaders of the multiple Irish uprisings of the late 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. Many of these leaders were executed here. Many poor Irish also starved within these walls during the potato famine.

This portion of the jail, with its interesting configuration of catwalks and metal stairways, along with the oval shape of the vast room and the skylight, have made this wing popular among film makers. The prison has been featured in a number of well-known films, including "In the Name of the Father" and "Michael Collins."

Hi Sandy,

A very interesting location with wonderful symmetry, hence many photographic possibilities. Your picture brings across the size of this panoptic hall, but the people below I find rather distracting. Maybe because of them the picture actually looks better in the thumbnail than here. Still...a good post & thanks for sharing the shot.

Benny

Hi Sandy,
Great POV and clarity for an interior. I feel odd saying this about a place with so bad memories, but that industrial iron architecture features a certain beauty and you caught it very nicely.
I wonder why you post it so small.
Regards, José.
