I suppose I had to post something from the Cliffs of Moher sooner or later, the scan quality is pretty awful. NeatImage really softened the foreground, which I could not (safely!) avoid. Taken before sunset when the site, and the parking area, is free of charge, and the daytrip buses and crowds are thankfully absent. There really is no other time to be at this site if enjoyment of the scenery is the intention.
Honestly I did not drink any GREEN beer before posting this.

For your own sake I hope you didn't drink green beer, what do they put in that stuff?! No beer for me tonight, last night it was Denmark's finest ;)
A good view, nicely saturated colours, especially the green grass, so I think it's an appropriate post for the day that's in it (well technically it's now march 18th here, but i won't get all pedantic about it!).
lilimih33 (9912) 2007-03-17 20:46
Great colours, clarity and perspective!
Greg1949 (9011) 2007-03-17 21:07
Tan, the shot is great, it pulls one n when seen in thumbnail an that is a good start but it is truly magical in it's detail and color, nice captre.
DanCouture (34) 2007-03-17 21:22
The greens are great, pecfect image for St-Patrick day, composition is wonderful great picture.
siolaw (37642) 2007-03-17 21:26
That promontory takes the viewer's eye along it and into the sea! Strong contrast and nicely saturated colors, i like the textures of the sea and cliffs here... nice little flowery FG.
And thanks for the tips about visiting times of that place!

Happy St. Patty's day! I like this shot - beautiful greens and looks just like I imagined it - nice scan by the way!

Excellent composition here Tan, with the line of these magnificent cliffs drawing the eye through the depth of the image. It's a simple and very effective composition.
I'd have liked to have seen a bit more of the clifftop in the foreground to give a greater sense of depth to the image, but overall I like this a lot.
ribeiroantonio (22631) 2007-03-17 23:21
I raise my glass of Guinness to this beautiful landscape. The deep colour of the sea is as good as the deep colour of the beer. And for the beer I really like it gold or black, not green. Well done.
Cormac (26545) 2007-03-17 23:53
Wow, what a gorgeous scene! Nobody can photograph these panoramic scenes like you, and here is another example, with an incredible sweeping cliff line laid out in front of us, fringed with an appropriate layer of green. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
gravatar (1586) 2007-03-18 0:46
Beautiful shot. Nicely composed. The foreground doesn't bother me. Adds to the immenseness of the background.
flory (4848) 2007-03-18 1:40
lovely image for St Patrick's day, really like that green on the rocks,an image sso calm for my eyes, incredible perspective from top..but after you posting this?..:)

carper (96) 2007-03-18 3:02
It is a nice one Tan,
the cliffs are fantastic, your point of view is very good and the quality is good, the green gras works very good by the view, well seen and good job Tan,
rhizomes (15343) 2007-03-18 5:24
Very good view with this perspective on the cliffs and the interesting light you captured !
I like it !

TFS, have a nice day and slante :)

magical Irish green and light. Fine view over the land just peeping above the steep cliffs. Excellent composition,
sanalytis (1634) 2007-03-18 5:49
A wonderful landscape photo. This place is truly stunning. I'm cycling Ireland in June and after seeing such an amazing shot, I can't wait!!! TFS
AdamBurton (8062) 2007-03-18 6:25
Stunning cliffs, captured well here with great colour. I must visit Ireland soon!
gbeli (2051) 2007-03-18 7:30
Very dangerous photo.
I didn't want to fall from this hight.
tcht (7565) 2007-03-18 8:12
btw...it's also mothers day in ireland & britain :) beautiful post here, superb light on the green and I luv how it stretches out. amazing place.
PixelTerror (0) 2007-03-18 10:34
An appropriate one from the Captain's comprehensive PoV, it displays the essential amount of beer and the captain's light hitting the cliff does its job, a nice oldie !
Have a nice sunday, hopefully without headache ;-)
kevinos (7379) 2007-03-18 11:54
Nice tribute to St Pat , Tan. The curve of the bay is a strong compositional feature. It's a nice rendition of those rich irish colours and the rocky Atlantic coast. Your details of the tourust hoards is rarher offputting though. It looks deserted in your picture.
vero07 (1781) 2007-03-18 14:24
I wish go there early! It seems an amazing place. Your shot has an excellent definition and colours.
Thanks for sharing.
guillaumejm (0) 2007-03-18 15:49
Quality of scan is not that awfull!. I like the saturated colours we have here and light on cliffs. The POV choosen gives a nice perspective.
ALIRIZA (16419) 2007-03-18 17:10
Yeşilin harika tonlarıyla hoş bir diyagonal kompozisyon. Ellerine sağlık...
sleon (9402) 2007-03-18 17:26
A fitting post for Paddy. The greens here look very lush and the sense of depth and recession is very effective and dramatic, with these cliffs stretching towards the horizon. Full of the usual Captain's magic...
delkoo (68) 2007-03-19 3:11
nice perspective and strong greens to celebrate the st patrick, those cliffs are superb.
pboehringer (770) 2007-03-19 10:36
Hi Tan, the scan isn't too bad. I even can see the 4 leaflet in the fg ;-) I'm not sure if you saw it, but it's there and fits very good with your St Patrick dedication.
donluicu (24718) 2007-03-19 10:40
of course it's not one of your best images, but the tribute to St Patrick, which is ,by the way, the only Irish Saint.... is great..
I know what you mean when you say that you enjoy this kind of place only when it 's empty..
a big breath...
Tue (25798) 2007-03-19 11:01
Really nice view on these cliffs. I like the mood over the landscape with this very pleasant sunlight. The inclusion of the grass in the foreground is very good too. Well done!
cimcim (3712) 2007-03-19 12:24

All this green alone represents nicely Ireland feast.
A great pano, with impressive cliffs and pleasant depth.

Böyle yükseklerden çekilmiş güzel manzaraların ustası sensin.
Bu konuda kimse eline su dökemez.
ChrisJ (91342) 2007-03-20 1:34
The fg has the advantage of adding depth & a nice colour contrast with the blue sea. Congratulations!
ahmetgedikli (25155) 2007-03-20 3:46
Ahmet
saylan-cb (12738) 2007-03-20 5:28
Bakış açınız, yeşilin tonları bu karede harika yansıtılmış.
tonyking (1603) 2007-03-20 7:45
You've got to watch out for that green beer..... It'll give you a killer headache! ;) And posting a pic of Ireland on St Patricks day? I guess it's probably the most appropriate day to do it!
This is a wonderful scene captured with excellent detail. I feel that nothing created by the hand of man can compare with the stunning, rugged beauty of nature's creations. This pic is one more that I feel supports my view.
Considering that you say the scan quality was pretty bad, you've got every reason to be pleased with this image. If you hadn't mentioned the foreground, I probably wouldn't have looked at it close enough to notice that it's a little softer than it should be. The detail in the rest of the pic looks to be pretty good. I also love the rich colours, particularly the green on the cliff tops. It's amazing! I also feel that you've got your composition exactly right. I love the way the line of the cliffs extends diagonally across the photo with just a hint of the ocean in the background.
It's easy to like your photos, Tan. Scenery like this makes me want to go to these places and see them for myself.
John_F_Kennedy (41526) 2007-03-20 8:46
You are lucky to have such a beautiful view. When I was at this place we had a storm and all picture are grey in grey.
gilou530 (34) 2007-03-20 16:14
MIG13 (0) 2007-03-20 18:31
Hi, Tan! What a wonderful landscape, so impressive! Great colours and depht! Well done! TFS! Best regards! Miguel.
john_c (24662) 2007-03-20 20:14
On the occasion of St. Patrick's day, all is forgiven - even and perhaps especially the softness of the green grass in the foreground. I like the great depth here and how far the eye can discern details on the lengthy peninsula. A really fitting post for the occasion. Magical Irish tones pervade the image.
barni (15747) 2007-03-21 5:22
Verry good view.
Perspective is perfect.
stego (22556) 2007-03-21 16:27
Please don't be so perfectionist... I was almost decided to post some of my old film photos, when I see this great scan qualified as "pretty awful" by its author... Take pity on us poor mortals that would love that their most successful scans were nearly as good as this one.
Maybe it is below your average in therms of sharpness and luminosity, but it is still great.
Above all, I like the textures of the cliffs and the sea and that zigzag that leads our eye from the lower right corner to the infinite on the horizon and the contrast of the sharpness of the fg against the haze on the bg.
elmec (12210) 2007-03-21 16:56
I have been there last year in november!
This time was less griin more red - brown!
Amazing place, isn't it?
Perfect shot with great light and composition!
MLINES (12516) 2007-03-21 17:30
Hi Tan. Wonderful POV along these Irish cliffs. Well cropped and presented to become one of your many classics. I have a wish to visit Ireland one day, and your series make it become more urgent. TFS. Murray.
zeca (19762) 2007-03-22 2:52
Beautiful photo, Tan! It shows exactly what I expect to see one day in Ireland! Very nice view and perfect lights!
banyanman (7772) 2007-03-22 11:39
I don't think the scan quality is that bad, Tan. And the softening of the foreground and sky with NeatImage has created a mood that complements the contrasty light. Cheers . . . David
PS: I didn't know it was St Patrick's Day - that's something not celebrated here in Malaysia!
maphoto (8082) 2007-03-22 22:54
Hi Tan, what a great view and landscape, beautiful green and blue ! Marvelous framing and excellent diagonal on the cliff, very well done !
Stepan (27210) 2007-03-23 2:40
A pertinent St Patrick post (I see the Green tones), a great compo. The depth is huge, with this cliff going into the light mist. Beautiul.
axiotea (21647) 2007-03-23 13:36
A beautiful view (without tourists) over the cliff and ocean from a good POV... I like also the texture of the water, the white line along down the cliff, made by the foam of the sea, the green grass which is very attractive to the eye and the inclusion of the small flowers in FG. Lighting is great too...
Didi (51343) 2007-03-24 4:35
Nice touch of greens symbol of this country and very interesting natural rocky perspective with good spring lights.
Budapestman (82620) 2007-03-26 4:16
Beautiful place. Excellent POV and fascinating atmosphere. Nice colours and great perspective. Superb shot. Have a nice week. Thank you
bazal (7900) 2007-03-26 8:01
What an impressive view on these fabulous cliffs. I completely agree on your comments about the best time to visit this place (which is also the only time you can really enjoy this site!). I think this is a great St Patrick gift for all TE community. Be sure I'll have a Guinness tonight thinking at this one if I manage to find some of this heavenly beverage in my new country...
Thanks for sharing!
bakes888 (18499) 2007-03-28 4:34
Hi Tan. Avoid the green beer!! I speak from experience here ;). Great photo, a little soft perhaps but enough detail for this resolution. Well timed to catch the light and excellent sky. I like the composition with the haze softening the cliffs as they gather distance. Thanks for sharing.
Ann75 (0) 2007-03-29 0:43
I like it very much and I am even amazed that it's a scan. The quality is pretty good. I love the view over the cliff going in to the water almost disappearing into the distance. Great composition and beautiful colours! Well done, Tan!
jmcl (14535) 2007-03-30 0:09
beautiful vastness .. beautiful greens, .. wonderful depth ..breathtaking and beautiful ..
too bad about the beer.
Angshu (52962) 2007-03-31 3:40
The green is superb & so is the POV with the cliff jutting into the sea. The white surf of the waves lapping against the cliff & the deep blue sea with the tint yellow flowers in the FG makes it very appealing
IgorDeleze (585) 2007-03-31 13:29
Nice picture with beautiful colors.
I like the way the cliff is strong and clear in the foreground and becomme soft in the background. It give a great deep of field.
abulafia (4900) 2007-04-04 6:24
This is an awesome scenery and i haven't even heard of this place before!
The scan might not be the best, but not as bad as you describe it.
sabyasachi1212 (19769) 2007-04-05 6:08
Never mind the scan quality and NeatImage can quite a nuisence at times, but this is all about composition and POV and in that sense it is flawless. Excellent work.
With Greetings from India

Bravo

Galiba St. Patrick's Day tam bir hafta evveldi, fakat bu sahane scanned kareyi yeni görüyorum. Kompozisyon, perspektif, netlik herbir harika. Ellerinize saglik.
Dogrusu Amerikanin en güzel yerindesiniz, "a Suburb of Paradise."
Selam ve saygilar,
JCG (35129) 2007-04-28 9:10
A splendid marine landscape. These vertiginous cliffs are superb and the treatment of the photograph but agreeably in value this magic place. I like very much the prospect that these cliffs form and the colors of the sea is surprising. Beautiful photograph, cheer. Which beautiful country Ireland.
With all my friendships and a good WE,
