Ballinskelligs Bay during bad weather.
This was my view for a week long. A couple of days with good weather, and then some days with storm, and real Irish weather, which means more or less, very nice and sunny, then rain, and then nice and sunny again. No matter what weather, the view was terrific. Especially with storm.
There's an open view to the Atlantic, and sometimes one could see the Skellig Islands, two massive rocks, the smaller one occupied by 40.000 gannets, and the bigger one (Skellig Michael) with the remains of St. Finian's Abbey (560 AD), and 6 beehive huts. During breeding season, it's also inhabited by Puffins, the beautiful coloured birds, that are normally out on the ocean.
Tasco has a nice picture of a puffin (I was not that lucky), take a look here: 'puffin'
Just because you couldn't always see the Skelligs, it added to the mysteriousness of Ireland.

Update; apparently fooled you guys, some of you saw it: it's NOT B&W, hardly any color, but not B&W.

It's official: bad weather can make good photos, wonderful glowing silver light and the black shorelines enhances this by contrast.

A really Irish scene with bad wheather, but the picture is great, Rinie !

Yes, even in bad weather and storm, this view is a genuinely impressive one (and it might have less impact with a perfect blue sky and bright scenery). Lovely capture of the rolling coastside hills with a very dramatic cloud and light setting. I think it's beautiful, Rinie, thanks for sharing.
Ah, Ireland. A dream of mine to travel there one day.

It's a beautifuly typical Irish scene ;-). The lighting is always magic and the best and overall impressive views are by storm days. You captured a beautiful moment here Rinie, and it's very well rendered. Thanks for sharing.

Mood of romanticism. As though has not woken up yet finally, or may be only you fall asleep... The Beautiful shot

This picture is so simple yet it creates a powerful feeling of serenity. Very good shot.

This is very beautiful. Look like black and white photo but really it is color. Maybe little bit dark on bottom but I like this very much anyway. Good work!

Wow! After the bright colours from yesterday, a B&W today, Rinie! Thus - with such a fantastic mood in it. So very romantic and peaceful at the same time, despite the stormy weather. Stunning composition of nature shapes and space. Great job!

Deze had ik bijna gemist, Rinie,
Prachtige plaat, kleur heeft ze bijna niet, maar toch genoeg Ik vind de diepte prachtig en je heb hem goed genomen, my compliments

Beautiful and dramatic land/seascape here. I can almost hear the wind howling. I love the classic composition, the sharp contrast, beautifully rendered clouds and lighting. B&W is a fine choice here. Like your note too. Excellent work, Rinie!

What a moody shot. So clean, almost monochrome, and a wonderful shot. I like it, Rinie.

Very nice. You made great use of the conditions. The lighting is captured very nicely and silhouettes a lot. The reflection on the water adds to that mysterious feel from the haze and clouds. And it's such a huge scene. I didn't think it was so large a place from the thumbnail but now I see the buildings along the bottom. Very impressive. You had a great view. Nicely done.

Hi Rinie,

I like this composition, Like Torben wrote "...bad weather can make good photos...".

Well done

very nice scenery here, the b/w is great, maybe crop the top a little.

but very good

well done

Bad weather? no that is normal weather up there, but it allowed you to catch some fantstic play of shadow and lights.
well done.
ciad mile failte!
Sorry since I have no access to critiques, I can only give you symbolic points:

Beautiful place and a beautiful view !
Great composition !
Congratulations

What an amazing view! And it's an added surprise to see those "vivid" green fields at the bottom. Great shot!

Yes Rinie, I can clearly see some similarities here ;)
Still these mountains seems a bit stretched out flat.
Most of the good critique is said; exposure, composition and the fact that you were there capturing this photo. I'm not agree with myself about cropping some of the right side. Maybe a crop of 25 % would be ok, but it works well like this too!
Well done!!!

ah..this is a wonderfull picture Rinnie..beautifull light and great grey tones, almost bw if you do not look at the shore carefully...thanks :)

another fine picture . I am mising the green, but not the mood and that's important.

I just found your travelogue on Waterville and had a great time looking at the picture. I like this one particularly for its sad mood (indeed, not B&W, but sad colors!) and the way the stormy lights shape the coastline. I really like this kind of bad weather moods. This picture is great seen in contrast to the other one in your travelogue, of the same point of view but with a "postcard" weather... Although the other one is quite nice too and gives a interesting perspective on the Skellig Islands, I think I appreciate this one better. Thanks for the journey!

Lovely shot Rinie, excellent composition, I love the misty view over the waters.

Well captured!
