Although I'm a bit reluctant to upload this picture, because it's technically far from ideal, I would like to share this one anyway, because after my last upload of the 'pleasant pub', which was empty, one wanted to see real people in the pub.
But the main reason for this upload, is actually to show how interested Irish people are in all sorts of music, and dancing etc. All people in the picture really concentrate on the music that is played. (in this case it was renaissance music from Brittany, after a weekendworkshop of Irish setdancing).

During summerschools and workshops all year round, music (all sorts of instruments) and set- and stepdancing is taught by sometimes famous teachers, and to very many people. Music is learned by heart, so that you can always join in in a set. There are really numerous tunes in Ireland, and often there is live music in pubs.
Also songs come from everywhere, and often still sung in gaelic and 'sean nos' (the old way, whithout any accompaniment). People record songs, and learn them themselves, and sing them in pubs again. Irish culture is SO alive, and vivid, and not just there for tourist's sake.

The pub is 'the Bridge bar' in Portmagee, on the southwest coast of Ireland. It's a small fishing village lying by the Atlantic ocean.

The circumstances in the pub were not easy, I had strong backlight coming through the two windows, so I had to use the flash, and there's much noise, but NeatImage didn't work well. Besides it wasn't all sharp.
Every tip to make a better picture next time, is welcome, and please, feel free to make a WS.

Cropped, despeckle, ands sharpened a bit. Added a frame.

Well, Rinie, the technical characteristics here are not so important, at least for me! ;-) What really matters and is so much in the spirit of TE is that sparkle in people's eyes you captured faultlessly! I love the way they are listening to the music, with all senses... Excellent capture with unique mood in it!

Niet altijd gemakkelijk om "binnen" te
fotograferen, je kunt er niet alles naar je hand zetten, maar hier draait het gewoon even om het plezier, wat de mensen hebben en dat heb je mooi geportreteerd, Rinie, well done!

Itīs a fine moment, no doubt. Well captured Rinie.
Nice photo efect!
Well done.

Wow Rinie, you really captured the spark of fun, concentration and 'getting in to the music' very well here. I like the way you used all these nice heads to define your framing also . And yes, the tech ain't perfect but that is certainly no issue here. Very well seen & done!

hi Rinnie..some of us look for techniques, some of us for the spirit, we are lucky when we catch both...it is a lovely picture for me...and I like the colorfull feeling visual and mental:) they really look very concentrated in it..sharing music is one of the greatest things (also filming for me in the same sense)..

Celtic Music is alive and well :)
Are they all watching someone dancing?

Well, its gives a different perspective of the irish pubs, i thot it was all filled wihth irishmen deep into their guiness :)

Your comment is right, but nevertherless it is life in Ireland, a daily reality. Plus your picture is good

A great capture of the scene and the mood. It seems festive and lively. Very upbeat. Everyone is really intent and focused, too. Except for the woman on the right in red. I really like the guy behind her with the beer. He really looks intent on what the players are doing. Very alive and vibrant. Nice job.

Hi Rinie, a good idea you had to "fill the pub" with people. Now it's living, colored, funny and has a so typical and "warm" ambience. I have tons of Irish and celtic music, I just love it. Very nice post, remembers me great moments. Thanks for sharing.

This si a great image. I love it for a lot of reason, first f all because i play the squeeze box, mostly breton and Irish nusic.. so for me this is very emotionnal.Actually micne is the same brand as the one we see on the picture, a castagnari.

Oh, this is so Irish, it's unbelievable. To the Irish, as you point out, music is serious business. And so is drinking and enjoying yourself in the pub. But with a special Celtic touch that comes out so well in the eyes and faces of the men and women in this shot. I want to go back to Ireland - now.
